The Job Summary

The PDI Stockyard Technician is responsible for conducting pre-delivery inspections and ensuring that all vehicles meet quality standards before they are dispatched to dealerships; involving detailed checking of mechanical functionalities, safety features, and cosmetic aspects of vehicles; addressing any issues identified during the inspection, performs minor repairs and adjustments, and prepares vehicles for customer delivery, contributing to maintaining reputation for high-quality vehicles.

Technical / Job-Specific Competencies

Pre-Delivery Inspection

  • Perform Pre delivery Inspections and related activities.
  • Inspect vehicles for obvious damage and missing major components.
  • Inspect vehicles for loose or misaligned items such as trim, doors, and hardware.
  • Record discrepancies and signs or otherwise acknowledge an acceptance slip for each vehicle delivered.
  • Perform repairs and replace defective items with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
  • Ensure the warranty repairs are properly documented and charged.
  • Drive the vehicle to test steering, brakes, transmission, and engine operation.
  • Activate power equipment such as electric windows, seats, radio, horn, lights and directional signals to ensure specified operating standards.
  • Inspect surfaces to detect minor chips and scratches in paint, Touch up imperfections using brush applicator and factory-supplied matching paint.
  • Install optional equipment specified by the customer or dealer.
  • Install standard components.
  • Pour antifreeze into radiator according to seasonal requirements.
  • Tune engine, using technicians’ tools and test equipment.
  • Install or repair major mechanical, hydraulic or electromechanical equipment such as radios, air conditioners, power steering units and power brakes using hand tools.
  • Wash and polish exterior of vehicles.
  • Clean and vacuum interior of vehicles.
  • Maintain and be accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manual.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of inspection findings, test results, and work performed on each vehicle.
  • Complete pre-delivery inspection checklists and documentation in accordance with company procedures and industry standards.
  • Report to the higher management regularly and keep them updated about the Pre-delivery inspections.

Safety Compliance & Quality Control

  • Ensure that all vehicles meet quality standards and specifications set by the manufacturer.
  • Identify and rectify any defects or discrepancies found during the inspection process to ensure customer satisfaction and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Understand, keep abreast of and complies with federal, state and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know etc.
  • Operate all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Ensure that vehicles comply with safety regulations and standards mandated by regulatory authorities.
  • Verify the functionality of safety features such as airbags, seat belts, lights, and brakes to ensure optimal performance and occupant protection.

High School Diploma or equivalent

Professional Certifications

Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification

Experience

Minimum 2 years of experience in automotive repair, maintenance, or related technical field

Languages Proficiency

Fluency in English & Arabic languages
