Part-Time Lecturer in Architecture and Materiality Jobs in Dubai at CANADIAN UNIVERSITY DUBAI

Canadian University Dubai (CUD) is seeking a Part-Time Lecturer in Architecture and Materiality to join the School of Architecture and Interior Design for the Fall Semester 2026-2027, starting August 31.

The successful candidate will hold a graduate degree in Architecture and demonstrate a strong commitment to design education. The position requires the ability to guide students through the development of architectural studio projects, with particular emphasis on the relationship between space, structure, construction systems, and materiality. The successful candidate will foster creative exploration while helping students translate conceptual ideas into coherent, technically informed architectural proposals.

Qualifications

  • Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in Architecture or a closely related discipline.
  • Candidates should demonstrate expertise in:
  • Architectural design and studio teaching
  • Architectural materiality and construction systems
  • Design development and architectural detailing
  • Small to medium scale building design
  • Architectural representation through digital and physical media
  • Experience in higher education and professional architectural practice is highly desirable.

  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Architectural materials and material technologies
  • Building construction systems

  • Sustainable material strategies
  • Design communication through drawings, models, and presentations
  • Architectural precedent analysis and case studies

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate architectural design studios with a focus on the integration of materiality, construction systems, and spatial design.
  • Guide students through the predesign, schematic design, and design development phases of architectural projects, supporting progression from concept to detailed architectural proposals.
  • Deliver lectures, tutorials, critiques, workshops, presentations, and site visits that strengthen students’ understanding of architecture through making and material exploration.
  • Mentor students in developing creative, technically informed, and contextually responsive architectural solutions that integrate form, function, construction, and sustainability.
  • Support students in producing architectural drawings, physical models, visual presentations, and design documentation appropriate to each stage of the design process.
  • Provide timely feedback, assessment, and academic guidance aligned with course learning outcomes and School policies.
  • Encourage critical thinking, experimentation, and an informed understanding of materials as generators of architectural form and experience.
  • Promote professional standards, ethical conduct, and the responsible use of digital technologies, including artificial intelligence where appropriate.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive, and intellectually stimulating studio culture.
  • Maintain punctuality, effective communication, and professionalism in all teaching related responsibilities.
  • Support the School of Architecture and Interior Design in delivering high quality architectural education aligned with contemporary academic, professional, and industry standards.
