About this role:

In this role you will lead the day to day operations of GBS Outstations as well as focusing on end-to-end transformation, harmonisation and centralisation of finance and back-office processes currently performed across Qatar Airways Outstation network. The role is responsible for driving real, measurable change – embedding strong internal controls, streamlining ways of working, evaluating people and process effectiveness in each outstation, and identifying opportunities to optimise outstation-based activities (finance, accounting, payroll, procurement, vendor management and other back-office tasks). The role partners with stakeholders across finance, the commercial business, GBS, internal audit, tax, procurement, and IT. To design and deliver a leaner, more controlled and more cost-efficient outstation operating model for QR Group.

Global Operations Support Activities

§ Oversee the processing of non-Doha payroll including payroll preparation and security, payroll payment controls, distribution of payroll, statutory payments and numerous types of settlements
§ Oversee non-Doha procurement processing including requests for procurement and accounting compliance, handlinf of local payments, manage non-medical insurance policies and be the liaison for asset verification and station taxation with head office teams
§ Ensure compliance to group policies and provide Group Legal local level support (legal retainers, POA governance, etc)
§ Oversee management of non-Doha facilities including but not limited to lease contracts compliance and driving cost savings where possible.
§ Oversee a team supporting QR staff with their duty and staff travel requirements

Transformation & Process Harmonisation

§ Lead the design and execution of a multi-year programme to harmonise and standardise finance and back-office processes across all QR outstations (finance, accounting, payroll, procurement, vendor management, station admin).
§ Map current "as-is" processes per outstation, identify gaps, duplications and weak controls, and define a single "to-be" global process model aligned to QR Group standards.
§ Drive embedded internal controls into every redesigned process, ensuring consistency, auditability and full compliance with QR policies and IFRS.
§ Continuously identify opportunities to simplify, automate and shorten processes using technology, process automation and AI use cases.

Centralisation & In-Sourcing

§ Identify activities currently performed in outstations (or by third-party providers) that can be centralised into Doha or into the Group’s GBS / CDC delivery centres.
§ Build the business case for centralisation, covering cost, control, quality, risk and people impact.
§ Lead the rationalisation of external vendors providing outsourced finance, payroll, accounting and admin services in outstations, and where appropriate bring those activities in-house under a centralised model.
§ Define and run the transition plans (people, process, technology, knowledge transfer, hyper-care and stabilisation).

Controls, Compliance & Risk

§ Embed a robust internal controls framework in every outstation process, aligned with QR Group’s risk and audit standards.
§ Ensure full IFRS compliance and consistency of accounting treatments across all outstations.
§ Partner with Internal Audit, External Auditors, Tax and Legal to address findings, close gaps and prevent recurrence.
§ Maintain documentation, SOPs and control narratives for all redesigned processes.

People & Effectiveness Reviews

§ Assess the effectiveness and productivity of finance and back-office staff in outstations; identify skill gaps, span-of-control issues and redundancies.
§ Recommend organisational changes (re-deployment, up-skilling, role redesign, headcount rationalisation) to support the new centralised model.
§ Work closely with HR Business Partners on change management, communication and people transitions across multiple jurisdictions.

Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration

§ Act as the single point of contact for outstation transformation, engaging stakeholders at Corporate (Finance, Tax, Treasury, Procurement, IT, Internal Audit, Legal, HR) and across the commercial business (VPs, Ground Services, Cargo, Sales).
§ Influence senior leaders and country teams to adopt standardised processes, often in environments where local autonomy and legacy practices are deeply rooted.
§ Build a strong partnering mindset across the organisation to move initiatives over the line.

Technology & AI Enablement

§ Partner with IT and the Oracle Fusion / ERP transformation team to ensure outstation processes are designed to leverage the Group’s target technology stack.
§ Identify, pilot and scale AI, process automation, analytics and self-service use cases to streamline outstation processes.

Management & Leadership

§ Lead a matrixed workstream across regions.
§ Set clear KPIs, milestones and benefits-realisation targets; report progress to the VP of GBS Finance Services.

Foster a culture of accountability, evidence-based decision making, and continuous improvement
