Offshore Crane Operator
The Offshore Crane Operator is responsible for the safe operation of pedestal cranes during shutdown activities, ensuring precise load handling in challenging offshore environments while maintaining strict compliance with Qatari safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate offshore pedestal cranes (50T to 500T capacity) for equipment/material lifts
- Perform blind lifts and deck loading/unloading of supply vessels
- Handle critical lifts of piping modules, valves, and structural components
- Conduct pre-operational checks (wire rope inspection, limit switches, hydraulic systems)
- Follow QP (Qatar Petroleum) lifting procedures and international standards (BS 7121, LOLER)
- Implement lift plans and work with banksmen/signalers
- Coordinate with rigging teams for heavy equipment positioning
- Assist in platform maintenance lifts and personnel basket transfers
- Maintain crane logbooks and inspection records
- Report equipment defects via CMMS systems
Required Certifications & Requirements
- OPITO Stage 3 Crane Operator or API RP 2D certification
- BOSIET/HUET with CA-EBS (offshore survival)
- Qatar MME (Ministry of Municipality) license (or eligibility to obtain)
- H2S/BA and OGUK medical
- 5+ years offshore crane operation (3+ years in shutdown projects)
- Experience with Favelle Favco, Liebherr, or Manitowoc cranes
- Familiarity with Qatargas/Ras Gas lifting standards
