Your Role
As the Road Logistics Manager for Qatar, you will be responsible for developing and expanding Kuehne+Nagel’s road logistics operations in the country. Your role involves creating and executing a growth strategy focused on cross-border and domestic transportation, including haulage. You will ensure operational excellence by setting quality KPIs and implementing structured business development processes. Additionally, you will leverage new technologies such as transport management systems, visibility tools, and telematics to enhance efficiency and service quality.
Your responsibilities include operational oversight, leadership, and day-to-day management, along with overall P&L responsibility. You will report directly to the Managing Director of Qatar and functionally to the Senior Vice President of Road Logistics for the Middle East and Africa.
Your Responsibilities
Develop and execute an organic growth strategy for the Road business in Qatar, fostering strong customer relationships, acquiring new business, and managing existing accounts.
Drive business development through tender analysis, solution design, costing, and service offerings.
Implement advanced customer and carrier visibility tools, such as Kuehne+Nagel’s digital road logistics platform, to leverage technology for a competitive edge.
Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify new opportunities, including potential acquisitions, new services, and partnerships.
Improve Road Logistics operations through standardized processes, IT applications, and operational control systems (KPIs).
Oversee operational activities, staffing, performance evaluations, and achievement of local goals.
Participate actively in the National Management Team in Qatar.
Foster cross-country collaboration and joint business development initiatives.
Implement a carrier management program to support business growth.
Develop and monitor the annual budget, taking corrective actions as needed.
Build and lead the Road Logistics department, recruiting and evaluating staff, and promoting talent development through training.
Conduct performance reviews, coaching, and career development in collaboration with HR.
Your Skills and Experiences
10+ years of experience in Logistics & Transportation, preferably in a 3PL or competitive services environment.
Senior-level business development experience within logistics or service industries.
Proven leadership in direct and indirect reporting structures.
Strong leadership and teamwork skills.
Ability to influence, negotiate, and resolve conflicts at various organizational levels.
Strategic vision with the ability to understand complex processes and identify new opportunities.
Creative thinker who challenges traditional approaches and fosters change.
In-depth knowledge of the Middle Eastern Road Logistics market.
Fluent in English;
Arabic language skills are a plus.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
