Key Accountabilities
Key Activities
Construction Methodology & Temporary works design
- Develop, manage, and oversee construction methodologies and sequencing strategies, including the design and coordination of all associated temporary and enabling works for both underground and above-ground structures, ensuring alignment with approved permanent works design and site-specific conditions.
- Formulate cost-effective construction approaches and detailed lifting plans for heavy lifts involving specialized precast concrete units and structural steel elements, with strong expertise in modular and off-site construction techniques.
- Identify repetitive construction processes and implement optimized methodologies, including the appropriate selection of tools, equipment, and lifting accessories, to enhance productivity, shorten cycle times, and achieve project schedule and cost efficiencies.
- Liaise with and support project teams in the adoption and implementation of MMC (Modern Methods of Construction) across multiple project sites.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of geotechnical parameters and their impact on the design and performance of temporary and enabling works.
- Propose, develop, and coordinate with specialist designers on deep excavation solutions, including slope stability assessments, shoring systems, and temporary earth-retaining structures required to support safe and efficient construction.
- Define access arrangements, logistics planning, lifting strategies, temporary works concepts, and construction staging.
- Lead constructability and buildability reviews in collaboration with Design Managers, construction teams, and subcontractors to enhance execution efficiency, improve practicality of design solutions, and minimize construction risks.
- Provide expert construction methodology input to support value engineering initiatives, evaluate alternative construction approaches, and develop effective risk mitigation strategies.
Design Coordination (D&B Interface)
- Act as the technical interface between Design, Engineering, BIM, and site execution teams.
- Review design deliverables for constructability, including temporary formwork and permanent structure drawings.
- Review and provide Temporary works Bill of quantities for planning and budgeting.
Safety, Risk & Compliance
- Ensure all construction methodologies are fully compliant with HSE requirements, applicable statutory regulations, client standards, and internal company procedures.
- Lead and support risk assessments, lifting studies, constructability hazard reviews, and temporary works risk evaluations.
- Embed safety-by-design and safety-by-methodology principles into all construction planning and execution strategies.
- Support permit-to-work systems and contribute to method statement review and approval processes.
Programme & Productivity Support
- Support planning teams in developing practical construction sequences, accurate activity durations, resource loading, and key project constraints.
- Identify opportunities to enhance productivity, improve efficiencies, and optimize construction approaches.
- Monitor site execution to ensure alignment with approved methodologies, and recommend corrective actions or improved methods as necessary.
Leadership, Capability & Continuous Improvement
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Methods Engineering team, Temporary Works Coordinator, and Technical Coordinators, establishing clear performance expectations and accountability.
- Implement consistent engineering and design management practices across disciplines and projects within ABCC.
- Foster a strong culture of constructability, risk awareness, and disciplined design governance.
