The Metal Fabricator is responsible for manufacturing, assembling, and finishing metal products and structural components according to engineering drawings and project specifications. The role involves cutting, bending, welding, grinding, drilling, and assembling various metals such as mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum while ensuring quality, safety, and production standards are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, shop drawings, and fabrication details.
- Measure, mark, cut, drill, bend, shape, and assemble metal components with precision.
- Perform fabrication of structural steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and architectural metal works.
- Operate fabrication equipment including shearing, bending, punching, drilling, grinding, and cutting machines.
- Carry out fitting and assembly of fabricated components prior to welding or installation.
- Perform grinding, deburring, polishing, and finishing of fabricated products.
- Verify dimensions and quality of fabricated components using measuring instruments.
- Ensure fabricated products comply with project specifications and quality standards.
- Identify and report material defects, equipment malfunctions, or fabrication issues.
- Maintain tools, machinery, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
- Follow production schedules to ensure timely completion of assigned work.
- Adhere to company safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assist with loading, packing, and preparing fabricated products for delivery or site installation.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Technical or vocational training in metal fabrication or welding is an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in metal fabrication, preferably in architectural metal works or structural steel fabrication.
- Experience working with mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum is preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication and engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of metal fabrication processes and techniques.
- Skilled in using fabrication hand tools, power tools, and workshop machinery.
- Basic knowledge of welding methods (MIG, TIG, ARC) is an advantage.
- Strong measuring and layout skills.
- Good understanding of fabrication tolerances and quality standards.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good physical fitness and ability to handle heavy materials safely.
Equipment & Tools
- Band saw and circular saw
- Shearing machine
- Press brake / bending machine
- Punching and drilling machines
- Angle grinder and polishing tools
- Welding machines (MIG, TIG, ARC)
- Hand tools and measuring instruments
- Forklift or overhead crane (where authorized)
Working Conditions
- Factory or fabrication workshop environment.
- Frequent standing, bending, lifting, and handling of metal materials.
- Exposure to noise, sparks, dust, and heat.
- Mandatory use of PPE including safety helmet, gloves, eye protection, hearing protection, and safety footwear.
- Overtime may be required to meet production schedules.
Pay: AED500.00 – AED1,500.00 per month
