Job Overview
The MES (Manufacturing Execution System) Support Engineer is responsible for the support, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Manufacturing Execution System and its integration with production equipment, ERP platforms, and quality management systems. This role ensures system availability, data integrity, and operational efficiency by supporting real‑time production monitoring, traceability, quality recording, and performance reporting. Working closely with IT, Engineering, Production, and Quality teams, the MES Support Engineer plays a key role in driving digital manufacturing initiatives and process optimization.
Key Responsibilities MES System Support & Availability
- Provide day-to‑day operational support for the Manufacturing Execution System, ensuring high system availability and performance within a production environment.
- Diagnose and resolve MES application issues, system faults, and integration‑related incidents to minimize operational disruption.
- Monitor system performance, interface connectivity, and data flow integrity, proactively addressing potential issues.
- Coordinate planned maintenance activities and system downtime with operational stakeholders to reduce business impact.
MES Configuration & Change Management
- Configure and maintain MES master data, including production orders, routing structures, product information, and quality parameters.
- Implement approved system enhancements, updates, and configuration changes through established change management processes.
- Support the deployment of new products, production lines, and manufacturing programs within the MES environment.
- Maintain accurate records of system configurations, version changes, and implementation documentation.
Integration Management
- Monitor and support integrations between MES, ERP systems, PLCs, SCADA platforms, production equipment, and quality management applications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data transfer issues, communication failures, and interface errors between connected systems.
- Work with internal stakeholders and external vendors to implement and validate new system integrations.
- Support automation and connectivity initiatives across manufacturing operations.
Data Management & Reporting
- Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of production, quality, and traceability data captured within the MES.
- Develop, maintain, and optimize reports, dashboards, and performance monitoring tools for operational stakeholders.
- Support data analysis and reporting requests from Production, Quality, Engineering, and Management teams.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies between MES data, ERP records, and physical production results.
- Deliver user training and support to operators, supervisors, engineers, and other system users.
- Identify opportunities to enhance MES functionality, improve data collection processes, and strengthen operational visibility.
- Support lean manufacturing, Industry 4.0, and digital transformation initiatives through effective use of MES technologies.
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, user manuals, process maps, and system architecture records.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
