The Night Auditor is responsible for overseeing the front desk operations, providing exceptional customer service to guests, and performing financial and accounting tasks during the overnight shift. The role includes verifying daily transactions, preparing daily reports, ensuring guest satisfaction, and managing check-ins and check-outs during the night.
Key Responsibilities:
Guest Services:
Greet guests with a friendly and welcoming demeanor.
Check in and check out guests during the night shift.
Assist guests with any inquiries, concerns, or special requests, ensuring a positive experience.
Respond to emergencies or unusual circumstances, addressing guest concerns promptly.
Accounting & Financial Management:
Perform end-of-day accounting procedures, ensuring all hotel financial records are accurate.
Reconcile hotel accounts, including revenue, billing, and payments.
Prepare and review daily financial reports (e.g., room revenue, transactions, guest charges, etc.).
Process billing adjustments and handle discrepancies.
Ensure all transactions for the day are properly posted and balanced in the system.
Administrative Tasks:
Maintain security protocols for the hotel, including monitoring CCTV, ensuring the safety of guests and employees.
Document and report any issues or incidents that occur during the night shift.
Assist in organizing the hotel for the next day’s operations (i.e., preparing work orders, assisting with staff scheduling, etc.).
Communication:
Maintain communication with other departments (housekeeping, maintenance, etc.) to address guest needs and property upkeep.
Inform the day shift of any significant occurrences or issues during the night.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Business, or related field is a plus).
Proven experience in hotel front desk operations or accounting roles.
Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
Basic knowledge of accounting and financial reporting.
Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Flexibility to work overnight, weekends, and holidays.
Proficiency with hotel management software (e.g., Opera, Fidelio) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Skills:
Previous experience as a Night Auditor or in a similar position.
Knowledge of local regulations and hotel policies.
Multilingual abilities are a plus.
Work Conditions:
Overnight shifts (typically 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM).
Occasional standing for extended periods.
May be required to lift or move objects up to 25 lbs.
