Position: MEP Engineer (Mechanical inc. FP – EM and CS)
Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team, supporting the delivery of high‑quality engineering solutions within railway projects. The successful candidate will review technical documentation and supervise the construction works related to HVAC, hydraulic systems and fire protection for new and updated railway facility assets. They will perform detailed reviews of design drawings, reports, shop drawings and as‑built documentation, ensuring full compliance with applicable standards and requirements.
Collaboration is key: the engineer will work hand‑in‑hand with electrical engineers, interface with internal and external stakeholders, and support effective collaboration across all project stages—from concept design through to final hand‑over, including testing and commissioning. The role involves managing mechanical and fire protection elements from conceptualisation to completion, ensuring adherence to design specifications and timelines.
Responsibilities
- Review technical documentation and supervise construction works for HVAC, hydraulic systems and fire protection in railway facilities.
- Perform detailed reviews of design drawings, reports, shop drawings, as‑built drawings, calculations and technical specifications, ensuring compliance with project requirements and applicable standards.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (designers, contractors, project managers, commercial staff and project controls) to develop project plans and budgets.
- Interface with stakeholders, ensuring projects meet specifications, deadlines and quality standards.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary reviews of technical documents and produce value‑engineering proposals.
- Conduct quality inspections and oversee installation, testing and commissioning of mechanical and fire protection systems, ensuring safety standards compliance.
- Monitor and report project progress, identifying and addressing potential issues and deviations.
- Provide technical support and guidance to project teams, promote a culture of safety, perform walkdowns, attend site visits and meetings.
- Stay updated on the latest engineering technologies and best practices.
Qualifications
- Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Minimum 12 years of experience in mechanical engineering and fire protection, preferably combining construction supervision and technical review.
- Experience performing engineering work in accordance with railway systems procedures, standards, and practices, and KSA regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of environmental and sustainability practices in mechanical engineering.
- Working knowledge of mechanical and fire protection codes and standards applicable to railway systems in KSA (Saudi Building Code, Civil Defence requirements, NFPA standards).
- Ability to analyze project requirements and verify implementation in technical documentation and site works.
- Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary teams in cross‑functional project environments.
- Strong problem‑solving abilities and sound decision‑making skills.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with project teams and stakeholders.
- Detail‑oriented with a focus on delivering high‑quality mechanical projects.
