Job Description
Represent the affiliate’s medical/scientific voice of expertise for assigned product(s) and relevant therapeutic area(s). Provide medical/scientific expert advice and guidance to key customers, including scientific exchange and professional relationship development with External Experts (EEs). Support medical/ scientific input into Medical Affairs strategies and cross‑functional activities, ensuring integration with affiliate business while maintaining functional independence.
Responsibilities
- Support brand team strategy and execution by providing medical/scientific input.
- Maintain in‑depth knowledge of assigned product(s)/therapeutic area(s) through training, congresses, seminars, and self‑study.
- Offer expert medical/scientific advice, respond to information requests, and contribute to accuracy of core dossiers (pricing, reimbursement, HEOR, medical information packs, clinical reviews).
- Establish & maintain professional relationships with External Experts and academic centers via congresses, advisory boards, round‑tables, and forums.
- Deliver scientific presentations and medical education programs to healthcare professionals.
- Screen relevant literature from scientific societies and develop summaries for internal use.
- Provide training to sales forces and other departments, updating training materials.
- Design and implement clinical research projects (Phase IV, registry, epidemiological surveys, PMOS) within standards and budgets.
- Oversee IIS study review, approval, and conduct.
- Support the Clinical Research Department by reviewing study protocols, identifying investigators/sites, and conducting feasibility surveys.
- Review promotional/non‑promotional materials to ensure content is correct, balanced, fair, and compliant with Abb Vie policies and local laws.
- Ensure compliance with applicable national laws, regulations, guidelines, codes of conduct, Abb Vie policies, and best‑practice standards.
- Act as a scientific interface and resource to HCPs, health‑care institutions, external experts, and professional associations.
- Provide specialist medical/scientific strategic input and operational support for core activities such as local clinical research, HCP interactions, data communication, educational initiatives, and patient safety.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree (PharmD, PharmB, MD, PhD) preferred; candidates with an undergraduate degree and relevant experience will be considered.
- Solid knowledge of the pharmaceutical environment and the role of Medical Affairs.
- Prior experience in Medical Affairs and Oncology therapy area required.
- Expertise in scientific methods applied to clinical research and knowledge of current regulatory controls.
- Ability to learn new subject areas quickly.
- Excellent written and spoken communication and presentation skills; ability to develop collaborative relationships with thought leaders, physicians, and other healthcare decision makers.
- Strong written and oral English required.
- Collaborative, team‑oriented approach with ability to work across the organization and with external stakeholders.
- Experience contributing to cross‑functional teams and/or working in matrix organizations a plus.
- Work independently with limited guidance, facilitating affiliate medical and clinical activities.
- Strong planning and organizational skills with a sense of urgency.
- High customer orientation and digital savviness.
- Commitment to compliance with rules, procedures, scientific quality, and integrity.
- Ability to travel regularly (≈ 50 %).
