S E S C is a specialist, project-based engineering company providing Testing & Commissioning, MEP Engineering, QA/QC, and Project Management services across the UAE, GCC, and international markets. We are currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Commissioning Engineer / Commissioning Team Lead to join our Operations team.

This is a senior technical leadership position intended for an experienced Mechanical Commissioning Engineer who has progressed beyond individual execution and can take ownership of mechanical commissioning packages, lead engineers and technicians, coordinate multidisciplinary activities, manage technical interfaces, and represent the commissioning function confidently with clients, consultants, contractors, and specialist vendors.

The successful candidate will initially be assigned to a major project in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, working as part of a senior specialist commissioning team following completion of S E S C’s technical onboarding and project orientation. The role requires strong practical knowledge of mechanical MEP systems, commissioning methodology, functional performance testing, technical documentation, troubleshooting, controls integration, and commissioning management.

Role Overview

As a Senior Mechanical Commissioning Engineer / Commissioning Team Lead, you will be responsible for the technical planning, coordination, execution, supervision, verification, and documentation of mechanical Testing & Commissioning activities.

The successful candidate should be capable of working independently while also providing technical direction to other commissioning engineers and technicians.

Key Responsibilities

1. Mechanical Commissioning Leadership

  • Take technical ownership of assigned mechanical commissioning packages.
  • Develop and execute commissioning strategies for mechanical systems.
  • Plan commissioning activities in accordance with project requirements, specifications, approved procedures, and project schedules.
  • Coordinate pre-commissioning, start-up, functional testing, integrated testing, performance verification, and final handover.
  • Establish system readiness requirements before commissioning activities commence.
  • Lead system readiness reviews and identify outstanding installation, documentation, or testing requirements.
  • Coordinate commissioning activities with construction and installation teams to ensure systems are ready for testing.
  • Monitor commissioning progress against project milestones.
  • Identify commissioning risks and escalate programme or technical constraints.
  • Ensure testing is carried out in a controlled, safe, and technically compliant manner.

2. Mechanical Systems

Strong practical commissioning experience is expected across a broad range of mechanical MEP systems, including, where applicable:

  • HVAC Systems
  • Chilled Water Systems
  • Water Systems
  • Fire Protection Systems
  • Controls & BMS

3. Functional Performance Testing

The successful candidate must have strong experience with functional performance testing (FPT) and system-level verification.

4. Chiller Plant & HVAC Performance

Experience with complex HVAC and central plant commissioning is highly desirable.

5. Testing, Measurement & Verification

Candidates with strong exposure to TAB coordination and verification will be particularly advantageous.

6. Commissioning Documentation

The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing, managing, and/or approving technical commissioning documentation.

The candidate must understand the importance of document control, revision management, traceability, test evidence, and proper technical closeout.

7. Technical Troubleshooting

Candidates should be able to demonstrate actual examples of complex commissioning problems they have resolved during previous projects.

8. Team Leadership

As the Commissioning Team Lead, you will have responsibility for coordinating and supporting other commissioning personnel.

9. Client, Consultant & Contractor Interface

The successful candidate will represent S E S C at technical meetings, inspections, testing activities, and commissioning coordination sessions. Strong communication skills and professional technical presentation are essential.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • UAE MOFA-attested Bachelor’s degree certificate.
  • Significant hands-on experience in Mechanical Testing & Commissioning.
  • Proven experience leading mechanical commissioning activities or commissioning packages.
  • Demonstrable experience with multiple mechanical MEP systems.
  • Strong understanding of commissioning methodology.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, schematics, specifications, and sequences of operation.
  • Experience coordinating contractors, consultants, clients, vendors, and specialist subcontractors.
  • Strong written and spoken English.
  • Strong leadership and team coordination skills.
  • UAE Driving Licence.
  • Immediate joiner preferred.
  • Willingness to travel internationally and work on project sites.

This is not a role with one permanently assigned work location.

Our projects are located across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, GCC, and internationally.

Operations personnel are assigned to projects based on:

  • Project requirements
  • Project availability
  • Individual performance
  • Employee availability
  • Upcoming business requirements

The initial project assignment for this position is Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Following the initial assignment, future projects may be located in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, or other international project locations. Flexibility to travel and work at different project locations is an inherent requirement of this position. Assignments may change as your technical capability develops and according to the company’s project portfolio and operational requirements. Candidates who are seeking a permanently Dubai-based or office-based position should not apply.

Pay: AED10,000.00 – AED12,000.00 per month
