Mechanical Junior Supervisor Jobs in Dukhān, Qatar at BAE Systems (New)
The post holder will be an experienced and skilled mechanical technician and supervisor undertaking a range of detailed maintenance activities on the Typhoon aircraft or aircraft components.
The post holder requires an excellent understanding of the approved technical data set and is competent to supervise personnel carrying out maintenance instructions in accordance with the organisation’s regulatory framework.
Demonstrates a distinct ability to analyze and diagnose faults in aircraft systems, equipment, and assemblies, follow diagnostic procedures, and work effectively within a team. Provides guidance to less experienced team members in a diverse and dynamic operational environment.
Undertakes detailed maintenance, inspection, and supervision activities on the Typhoon and its components, ensuring work is completed in accordance with the work package using relevant approved technical information. Resolves faults and maintenance issues, including configuration management.
Performs and completes tasked maintenance and diagnostic activities on the Typhoon aircraft or components, which may include aircraft ground handling, flight servicing, aircraft role changes, component removals, inspections, repairs, modifications, fault rectifications, replacements, and/or functional/system tests.
Demonstrates a flexible and proactive attitude to responsibilities, takes direction appropriately, and maintains personal task authorizations for working on aircraft or components.
Ensures maintenance is undertaken to schedule, resolves issues, and escalates as required. Conducts fault evaluation and raises ad hoc work cards for found faults during maintenance.
Supervises the team to ensure maintenance is completed as scheduled, highlights issues, escalates as needed, and reports on any impact to the wider program. Ensures staff are sufficiently competent and approved for their assigned tasks.
Performs support tasks within the aircraft or component maintenance facility to maintain compliance with MOE and FMPs, such as oversight checks and control of tooling/test equipment.
Provides guidance and leadership to the team, develops team members through formal assessments like PDRs, supports training requests, and demonstrates sound communication and people management skills to exchange complex information.
Has the ability to scope and carry out independent and critical inspections.
Maintains a personal Log Book to demonstrate currency and recency, signs others’ logbooks as appropriate, and, if approved, undertakes authorization and task competency approvals, including checking Pt 145 license application packs.
Requirements
Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship, ideally in Aeronautical Engineering or Military equivalent qualifications.
Minimum academic qualification of City & Guilds 2675 or 2661 in Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance or equivalent. Aircraft platform training is required.
Requires broad and in-depth product knowledge/competency within own technical area, awareness of team integration, and understanding of continuous improvement practices.
Minimum of 2 years experience at Technician level before undertaking a Supervisor role, with a comprehensive Log Book documenting skills, knowledge, and authorities related to the aircraft type or bays. Practical experience in aviation safety standards and procedures, including Expositions and FMPs, is essential. PDR training/experience is also required.
Ensures personal compliance with risk assessments, SHE policies, and procedures.
Additional specific training includes Typhoon Composite Flight Servicing, Mechanical Trade ‘Q’ Course, Leadership-Foundation, Human Factors, E&PW Awareness, ITAR Awareness, IT literacy, and Fire Training (Qatar GFx Specification).
