This position is suited to an experienced mechanical commissioning professional who can work independently, coordinate effectively with contractors and project stakeholders, and take ownership of commissioning activities across multiple mechanical systems.

The role will involve supporting and leading commissioning activities throughout the project lifecycle, from pre-commissioning through functional testing, performance verification, documentation, and final handover.

S E S C is a project-based MEP specialist engineering and commissioning company delivering Testing & Commissioning, QA/QC, and project management services across the UAE and internationally.

We are currently looking for a Mechanical Commissioning Engineer with strong hands-on experience across mechanical MEP systems to join our Operations team.

The successful candidate will initially be assigned to a major project in Jeddah, KSA, working alongside a senior specialist commissioning team following completion of S E S C’s technical onboarding process.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and execute Testing & Commissioning activities for mechanical MEP systems.
• Review project specifications, drawings, design documents, method statements, ITPs, commissioning procedures, and testing requirements.
• Lead and support pre-commissioning, commissioning, functional performance testing, and system verification.
• Commission mechanical systems including, where applicable: HVAC systems, Chilled water systems, Pumps and associated systems, Cooling towers, Ventilation and exhaust systems, Domestic water systems, Drainage systems, Fire protection systems, and BMS interface and controls coordination.
• Coordinate with MEP contractors, consultants, vendors, client representatives, and other commissioning disciplines.
• Prepare, review, and close commissioning documentation, check sheets, test records, inspection requests, and commissioning reports.
• Monitor commissioning progress against project schedules and agreed milestones.
• Identify technical issues, troubleshoot system performance, and coordinate corrective actions.
• Witness testing and verify system performance against approved requirements.
• Maintain accurate commissioning records and ensure documentation is completed to the required project standards.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and commissioning personnel.
• Participate in coordination meetings, inspections, testing activities, and project handover processes.
• Ensure all commissioning activities are carried out safely and in accordance with project procedures and applicable standards.

Requirements

• Immediate Joiner (No notice period)
• UAE MOFA attested Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Demonstrable hands-on commissioning experience across multiple mechanical systems.
• Experience working on large-scale commercial, hospitality, healthcare, industrial, infrastructure, or mission-critical projects is highly desirable.
• Previous GCC project experience is strongly preferred.
• Ability to independently interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, schematics, and technical documentation.
• Strong troubleshooting and technical problem-solving ability.
• Experience coordinating with contractors, consultants, clients, and specialist vendors.
• Good understanding of commissioning documentation and project closeout requirements.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary project team.
• Willingness and ability to travel internationally and work on project sites.

Desirable Certifications / Experience

Candidates with relevant professional certifications or specialist commissioning qualifications will be favourably considered, including experience or qualifications related to:

• NEBB
• ASHRAE
• CxA / Commissioning Specialist qualifications
• LEED
• TAB
• HVAC testing and balancing
• Building automation / BMS
• Mission-critical / data centre commissioning

Project-Based Role & Mobility Requirement

Important: S E S C is a project-based MEP specialist engineering company. This is therefore not an office-based role with one permanently assigned work location.

Our projects are located across the UAE and internationally, and Operations personnel are assigned to projects based on their technical skillset, project requirements, availability, and upcoming business needs.

Flexibility to travel and work at different project locations is an inherent requirement of this position.

Following the initial Jeddah assignment, future project assignments may be located in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, or other international project locations.

Assignments may change as your technical skillset develops and according to project availability and the company’s upcoming business requirements. This flexibility is an important part of working within a project-based engineering organisation.
