Job Purpose
The Material Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the planning, procurement, delivery, inspection, storage, distribution, and tracking of construction materials. The role ensures that materials are available on site at the right time, in the required quantity and specification, while maintaining proper documentation, traceability, and inventory control.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate material requirements with project, procurement, engineering, planning, and site teams.
- Prepare and maintain material procurement and delivery schedules in line with project requirements.
- Monitor material submittals, approvals, purchase orders, and delivery status.
- Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of materials to site.
- Track material orders from purchase through delivery and final installation.
- Verify delivered materials against purchase orders, approved material submittals, specifications, and delivery documents.
- Coordinate Material Inspection Requests (MIRs) with the QA/QC department.
- Ensure materials are properly inspected, identified, tagged, and stored upon arrival.
- Maintain accurate material receiving reports, stock records, delivery notes, and material tracking logs.
- Monitor material quantities and inventory levels to prevent shortages, over-ordering, or project delays.
- Coordinate the movement and distribution of materials from storage areas to work fronts.
- Ensure proper storage, handling, preservation, and protection of materials according to manufacturer recommendations.
- Maintain material traceability and documentation throughout the project.
- Coordinate with warehouse personnel regarding material receipt, storage, issuance, and stock control.
- Identify surplus, damaged, rejected, or obsolete materials and coordinate appropriate actions.
- Follow up on material shortages, delayed deliveries, rejected materials, and replacement requirements.
- Coordinate with the procurement team regarding outstanding purchase orders and expected delivery dates.
- Review material requirements against construction schedules and identify potential supply risks.
- Prepare regular material status reports for project management.
- Maintain material reconciliation records and support project quantity control.
- Coordinate with engineering and site teams regarding approved alternatives or material substitutions.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, company procedures, quality requirements, and HSE standards.
- Support project close-out by preparing material records, warranties, certificates, and related documentation.
Construction Material Expertise
The candidate should have practical knowledge of construction materials, including:
- Aluminium and façade materials
- Glass and glazing systems
- Steel and structural materials
- Cement, concrete, and aggregates
- Waterproofing materials
- Insulation materials
- Gypsum and drywall systems
- Tiles, stone, and architectural finishes
- Paints, coatings, and sealants
- MEP-related construction materials
- Fasteners, anchors, brackets, and accessories
- General building and finishing materials
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Materials Management, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- 3–7 years of experience in material coordination within the construction industry.
- Experience with a major contractor, façade contractor, fit-out company, or large-scale construction project is preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction material procurement, logistics, storage, and site requirements.
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of construction materials and their applications.
- Strong understanding of material submittal and approval processes.
- Experience with material tracking and inventory management.
- Ability to read drawings, specifications, BOQs, and material schedules.
- Knowledge of MIR, material receiving, inspection, and approval procedures.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with ERP, procurement, warehouse, or material management systems is an advantage.
- Strong documentation and reporting skills.

Pay: AED5,000.00 – AED7,000.00 per month
