The Manager-Substation is responsible for leading the end-to-end design, execution, commissioning, and handover of high-voltage substation infrastructure (132/33 kV, 132/11 kV and related systems) supporting mission-critical developments such as data centers and large-scale infrastructure projects.
The role ensures safe, timely, and high-quality delivery of power infrastructure in compliance with utility authority regulations (DEWA/SEWA/ADDC and international equivalents), project specifications, and Tier standards (Uptime Institute or equivalent). The position plays a key leadership role in coordinating consultants, contractors, utility providers, and internal stakeholders to achieve seamless grid integration and operational reliability.
Functional Responsibilities:
Lead planning, design review, execution, and delivery of high-voltage substation projects (132/33/11 kV) for mission-critical and large infrastructure developments.
Oversee full project lifecycle including engineering design (SLD, layouts, protection schemes), procurement coordination, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover.
Manage coordination with utilities (DEWA/SEWA/ADDC and international counterparts), ensuring compliance with regulatory, technical, and safety requirements.
Ensure adherence to N-1 redundancy, Tier III/IV standards (where applicable), and data center power reliability requirements.
Direct interface with internal stakeholders including MEP, infrastructure, and data center operations teams for integrated delivery.
Approve/review technical submittals, IFC/as-built drawings, ITPs, method statements, and commissioning procedures.
Lead authority approvals process, energization activities, and grid interconnection coordination.
Manage contractor performance, progress tracking, cost control, and schedule adherence.
Identify technical risks, delays, and design conflicts; implement mitigation strategies.
Oversee testing and commissioning activities including primary/secondary injection tests, relay coordination, transformer energization, and grid synchronization.
Ensure robust HSE compliance and QA/QC standards across all site activities.
Drive project reporting, documentation, and stakeholder communication through EDMS and project control systems.
