Job Description
The Manager Cabin Safety Performance (MCSP) is accountable and responsible for developing and delivering strategies to ensure the continuous improvement of cabin safety performance and Safety Management Systems (SMS) within Cabin Operations. The MCSP is accountable and responsible for leading and managing safety promotion in Cabin Operations to embed a strong safety culture in the department.
Accountabilities
- Develop Safety Performance Indicators (SPIs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) with the objective of improving overall safety culture and performance in cabin operations.
- Research and benchmark cabin SPIs and KPIs with other operators and provide recommendations
- Monitor Cabin Operations’ SPIs and KPIs presented during the monthly Cabin Safety Action Group (CSAG)
- Develop safety action plans and monitor performance against Safety Performance Indicators (SPIs).
- In coordination with the Safety Department, ensure that risks and hazards to cabin operations are analysed and any trends are addressed by the relevant departments for the improvement of cabin safety.
- Ensure that safety trends and recurring issues are addressed through appropriate communication channels and through collaboration with relevant stakeholders
- Conducting investigations on cabin crew safety matters, including cabin crew safety performance, cabin operations audit findings and other operational issues when required, in coordination with the Safety Department (as required), In-flight Performance & Operations (IPO) and other relevant stakeholders.
- Developing appropriate safety recommendations and/or corrective actions to prevent incident recurrence and for the improvement of cabin crew safety performance.
- Conducting risk assessments as part of Change Management prior to any major change in processes and procedures, implementation of new equipment, etc., and liaising with relevant stakeholders to ensure mitigations are agreed prior to implementation.
- Monitoring the SPIs, ensuring targets are met and defining any required safety action plans in case of any breaches.
- Ensuring that passenger-related Health & Safety Reports (HSRs) are processed, highlight hazards and risks to the operations, and ensure that trends arising from the analysis of HSRs are addressed with the relevant departments for the improvement of cabin safety.
- Collaborating with IPO, cabin crew training, and other departments to implement cabin safety promotion initiatives.
- Ensuring that required reports and monthly safety highlights to address commonly reported issues or trends to promote cabin crew safety awareness are produced and disseminated.
- Performing any additional duties and responsibilities assigned by MCSO or Head of In-flight Service Delivery (HISD), as required.
Qualifications
- Have adequate knowledge of:
- Applicable UAE safety regulations and any associated requirements and procedures
- Etihad’s cabin safety and operational policies and procedures
- Have familiarity with safety and quality management systems, preferably in aviation
- University degree or diploma preferably in management or cabin crew licence
- Ability to communicate in verbal and written English
- Ability to understand regulatory information
- Leadership and teamwork skills, with the ability to give clear direction
- Holds or have held a valid cabin crew licence and the associated ratings appropriate to a type of operation conducted by the company
- SMS training
- Risk assessment and hazard identification training
- 5 years’ experience in a cabin crew role
- 2 years’ experience in supervisory level desired
