Magnesium Trader Jobs in Dubai, UAE at Avighna Global Resources
**Trading & Deal Execution**
– Source primary magnesium ingot from Chinese smelters and trading houses; negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
– Sell into downstream markets including aluminum alloy producers, automotive/electronics die-casters, and steel mills (desulfurization applications).
– Manage a live position book, hedge FX exposure (CNY/USD) where appropriate, and track open contracts against delivery obligations.
**Supplier & Buyer Relationship Management**
– Build and maintain direct relationships with Chinese magnesium smelters and export trading houses; travel to China periodically for supplier audits and relationship-building.
– Develop a buyer network across automotive OEM/tier suppliers, aluminum alloy producers, and steel producers using magnesium for desulfurization.
– Negotiate and manage offtake agreements and framework supply contracts.
**Logistics & Operations**
– Manage container and ISO-tank logistics, packaging standards (drums, pallets, ingot specifications), and customs documentation across multiple import jurisdictions.
– Coordinate quality certification and testing (purity assay, impurity limits) with suppliers and independent labs.
– Track shipment schedules and resolve delivery or quality disputes.
**Risk, Trade Finance & Compliance**
– Structure trade finance arrangements (LCs, open account with credit insurance where appropriate) and manage counterparty/country risk.
– Monitor and advise on trade remedy measures (anti-dumping/countervailing duties) affecting magnesium imports in relevant markets, and structure trades to remain compliant.
– Maintain accurate contract and P&L records; support audit and compliance reviews.
**Market Intelligence & Reporting**
– Track magnesium reference pricing (e.g., Fastmarkets/Metal Bulletin assessments), Chinese energy-cost and environmental-policy developments affecting smelter output, and FX movements.
– Monitor global supply/demand balance, including any Chinese export-policy shifts or production curtailments, and translate this into trading recommendations.
– Provide regular market and position reporting to management.
## Qualifications & Experience
– 3–5 years of experience trading magnesium, other light metals (aluminum, titanium), or ferroalloys.
– Solid understanding of magnesium grades, purity specifications, and end-use applications (alloying, die-casting, desulfurization).
– Experience managing supplier relationships in China strongly preferred; comfort negotiating cross-culturally and working across time zones.
– Familiarity with international metals pricing benchmarks, FX risk management, and trade remedy/duty frameworks.
– Working knowledge of container shipping, packaging, and customs processes for metal ingot products.
– Bachelor’s degree in business, metallurgy, materials science, or international trade preferred; equivalent trading experience considered.
– Willingness to travel to China and other supplier/buyer locations — estimated 20–30% travel.
