Role Purpose.

The Logistics Specialist focused on the efficient coordination of logistics operations to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of goods. This role is responsible for managing logistics vendors and fostering strong relationships to optimize service levels and costs. The Logistics Specialist tracks shipments throughout the transportation process, proactively identifying and addressing any exceptions or delays that may occur.

Additionally, this position oversees customs clearance processes, ensuring compliance with all regulations to facilitate the smooth movement of goods across borders. The Logistics Specialist is also responsible for issuing and maintaining the necessary documentation related to shipments to ensure all logistics operations run seamlessly.

A critical aspect of this role includes monitoring logistics KPIs, analyzing performance metrics, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.

Principal Accountabilities and Key Activities

Manage relationships with logistics vendors to ensure optimal performance and cost-effectiveness.

Track shipments, ensuring on-time delivery while adhering to high quality and safety standards.

Oversee the management of clearance, exemptions, and required documentation.

Monitor logistics KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Proactively identify and address exceptions, delays, and discrepancies in the logistics process to minimize disruptions.

Collaborate with internal departments, such as procurement and sales, to align logistics strategies with organizational goals.

Education, Qualifications, and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.

1-3 years of experience in logistics, supply chain management, or related roles.

Experience with customs clearance processes and vendor management

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel)

Strong analytical skills to assess shipment data, monitor KPIs, and identify areas for process improvement.

Ability to proactively identify logistics challenges and implement effective solutions

Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with internal teams, vendors, and customs officials

Strong attention to detail in managing documentation and ensuring compliance with regulations

Understanding of logistics best practices, industry standards, and relevant regulations related to transportation and customs
