Overview
The Logistics Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all logistical aspects of a construction project to ensure smooth site operations. This role involves managing the delivery, storage, and distribution of materials and equipment, organizing site access and traffic flow, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
The manager works closely with project teams, suppliers, and contractors to optimize resource utilization, minimize delays, and maintain accurate documentation. Their primary goal is to keep the site efficient, safe, and well‑organized throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Effective delivery of site‑wide logistics through procurement of a site‑wide logistics management contractor.
- Define and monitor the scope of services, setting and measuring goals and objectives.
- Orderly, safe, and efficient movement of labour, plant, and materials around the site.
- Creation of a secure, well‑maintained site with regular logistics meetings.
- Efficient and orderly management of any worker’s accommodation.
- Development of processes, procedures, and induction programmes.
- Supply chain management, movement plans, and look‑ahead forecasting.
- Ensure logistics activities do not constrain the programme.
- Creation of a site‑specific safety manual with appropriate first aid cover and equipment.
- Develop, maintain, and update the Site Emergency Plan.
- Effective communication of information around the site.
- Planning for effective signage in line with corporate branding.
- Efficient management of any special public access roads (e.g., access to show houses or sales pavilions).
- Provision of an effective security management system that ensures all above are achievable.
- Variations and adjustments to logistics contractor scope, reviewing requirements and assessing impacts.
- Monitor construction change‑management process via the Engineer.
- Logistics contractor’s acquisition of all necessary permits for smooth operations.
- Review of cost completeness and budgets, ensuring work is re‑measured and signed off per contract.
- Provide monthly detailed graphical time slices showing plot and infrastructure activities and how logistics will support.
- Review weekly plans, confirm accuracy, and coordinate across stakeholders.
- Review detailed risk register, coordinated with all stakeholders, and implement mitigation plans.
- Provide coordination across all programme consultants and stakeholders related to logistics works.
- Support plots in terms of external access and influences that impact plot activities.
- Through regular meetings, highlight issues, concerns, and rollout weekly directions to stakeholder teams.
- Seek resolution to any issues with plot, infrastructure, or logistics teams or escalate with the proposed mitigation plan.
- Weekly reporting of detailed logistics dashboards.
- Submission of checklists of all logistics contractor self‑audits (QA, Safety, Environmental, Welfare, etc.) and report on status.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or Real Estate Development; chartership preferred.
- CSCS, SMSTS/SSSTS, recognised safety programme (qualified and up to date), First Aid, Lifting Supervisor Certification, Traffic Management, institutional membership.
- More than 15 years as a site‑wide logistics expert managing complex, matrixed team environments across multiple cultures.
- Prior Abu Dhabi projects experience mandatory (hospitality, mixed‑use, residential projects).
- Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
