Purpose of Job

Jobholders at this level are responsible for leading work activities and working autonomously with minor direction towards predetermined long-term objectives.

Jobholders might act as internal consultants and facilitators through providing guidance to deliver and perform operational activities.

Their main operational role includes preparing complex legal studies to Committees on withholding taxes and value-added taxes and real estate transactions taxes, providing legal opinion for consultation requests, and developing action plans for issues.

Job Resposiblites

  • Stay up to date with all tax/zakat laws and regulations through research and legal advice
  • Request required documents/ data from relevant stakeholders within specified period to prepare and study case files
  • Prepare case files and ensure data entered are complete and error free to guarantee in-depth revision of file
  • Correct errors of data entered into the case files based on information available
  • Study accurately and objectively cases related to withholding tax including double taxation agreements and verify tax exceptions/ exclusions and exemptions and provide Committees with legal studies in a timely manner
  • Study accurately and objectively cases related to value-added taxes, and cases between individuals and provide Committees with legal studies in a timely manner
  • Study accurately and objectively cases related to selected goods taxes, and related fines and provide Committees with legal studies in a timely manner
  • Study accurately and objectively cases related to real estate transactions taxes and related fines and provide Committees with legal studies in a timely manner
  • Study accurately and objectively cases related to clauses on statutes of limitations on assessments related to all zakat and tax issues and provide Committees with legal studies in a timely manner

Job Details

  • Study accurately and objectively any legal clause raised by the Appellant or Respondent and provide Committees with legal studies in a timely manner
  • Perform generic and specialized legal studies related to Appeals as requested and submit reports accordingly
  • Study accurately and objectively requests for legal advice submitted by the Technical and Accounting Studies Function to the Appeals Committee and provide Committees with legal studies in a timely manner
  • Develop accurate and timely periodical and customized reports for Section and submit to management
  • Document and update the section’s information and data periodically in its relevant database
  • Report issues to management and develop action plans providing recommendations for effective resolution/ improvement

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Law, or equivalent is required

Master’s degree in related field is preferred

Experience

A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
