Job Description:
We are looking for a passionate and experienced Dog Trainer / Pet Handler to join our team. As a Dog Trainer, you will be responsible for teaching dogs obedience, manners, and specific skills while creating a safe and engaging environment for both the animals and their owners. You will work directly with a variety of dog breeds and temperaments, helping them become well-behaved and confident pets.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement training programs for dogs of all ages, breeds, and temperaments.
Train dogs in basic obedience commands (sit, stay, come, heel, etc.) and address behavioral issues such as barking, aggression, or separation anxiety.
Provide private or group lessons for dog owners, educating them on proper training techniques and how to reinforce learned behaviors.
Observe and assess dogs’ behavior to tailor training techniques to individual needs.
Build strong relationships with clients, offering advice and support to ensure their dogs’ continued progress.
Monitor the progress of dogs in training and adjust techniques as needed.
Keep accurate records of each dog’s progress, behavior, and any concerns.
Assist with dog socialization and behavior modification in various settings.
Ensure that training areas are safe, clean, and well-maintained.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Dog Trainer or in a similar role.
Knowledge of positive reinforcement training methods and behavior modification techniques.
Strong understanding of dog psychology and behavior.
Ability to handle and train dogs of various sizes, breeds, and temperaments.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to work effectively with pet owners.
Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for animals.
Certification from a recognized dog training organization (preferred, but not required).
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physically able to handle dogs and conduct training exercises.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
Previous experience in dog behavior assessment.
First aid certification for pets.
Knowledge of specialized training techniques (agility, service dogs, etc.).
Familiarity with canine nutrition and health needs.
Work Environment:
The job requires spending time outdoors in various weather conditions.
You may need to work evenings or weekends based on client availability.
