Responsibilities
Strategic:
Develop and implement strategies to optimize last mile delivery operations, including route planning, vehicle scheduling, and delivery network expansion
Plan and organize the required fleet expansion plans based on demand forecasting and business growth projections
Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to ensure timely acquisition of vans, trucks, and other vehicles needed for last mile delivery operations
Implement and leverage technology solutions, such as route optimization software, GPS tracking systems, and mobile applications, to enhance efficiency and visibility within the last mile delivery process
Assess potential risks in last mile delivery operations and develop strategies to mitigate them, ensuring smooth and uninterrupted delivery processes
Operational:
Lead and manage a team of last mile delivery drivers, supervisors, and support staff, ensuring adherence to performance metrics, safety protocols, and company policies
Oversee and manage the truck fleet and driver operations, ensuring optimal utilization, route efficiency, and driver performance
Efficiently allocate and schedule vans and trucks for different regions based on demand, optimizing resource utilization, and ensuring timely deliveries
Monitor and adjust schedules as needed to accommodate changes in demand or operational requirements
Establish and maintain a system for recording fleet performance indicators, such as delivery times, vehicle utilization, and fuel efficiency
Regularly analyze performance data to identify areas for improvement and take appropriate actions to enhance fleet performance
Champion a customer-centric approach to last mile delivery, striving to exceed customer expectations through timely and accurate deliveries, proactive communication, and resolution of delivery-related issues
Collaborate with third-party logistics providers to ensure seamless coordination and execution of last mile delivery activities
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to last mile delivery operations, including vehicle safety regulations, driver licensing, and environmental regulations
Develop and implement policies and procedures related to fleet management, ensuring compliance with company standards and industry regulations
Regularly review and update policies and procedures to ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness
Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost optimization within the last mile delivery network, and lead initiatives to implement changes and drive results
Qualifications
Academic and professional qualifications:
Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field from a reputable university
Specialization or relevant coursework in Last Mile Delivery Operations is advantageous
Experience:
A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in logistics or supply chain management
At least 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role
Proven track record of effectively managing last mile delivery operations and optimizing distribution processes for timely and efficient product delivery
