Job Purpose
The Junior Planning Engineer supports the planning and project controls team in developing, updating, and monitoring engineering project schedules for Oil & Gas consultancy assignments. The role assists in maintaining project plans, tracking engineering progress, preparing reports, and ensuring project deliverables are completed in accordance with client requirements, quality standards, and contractual milestones. The role is ideal for early-career engineers looking to build expertise in project planning, scheduling, and project controls within FEED, Detailed Engineering, EPCM, and PMC projects. Planning roles in the region commonly emphasize Primavera P6 scheduling, engineering progress monitoring, reporting, and schedule analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and maintaining project schedules using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
- Support planning activities throughout the engineering project lifecycle, including FEED, Detailed Design, and EPCM/PMC assignments.
- Monitor engineering progress against approved schedules and identify schedule deviations.
- Update project schedules based on inputs received from engineering discipline leads.
- Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, dashboards, S-curves, and KPI reports.
- Support resource loading, manpower planning, and engineering productivity monitoring.
- Assist in establishing Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and project coding structures.
- Participate in schedule risk assessments and support recovery planning.
- Track engineering deliverables, procurement interfaces, and project milestones.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to collect progress updates.
- Assist in identifying schedule delays and recommend corrective actions.
- Support preparation of client progress presentations and project review meetings.
- Maintain planning documentation, baseline schedules, and project records.
- Ensure planning activities comply with company procedures and client requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial Engineering, or related Engineering discipline.
- Fresh Graduate or up to 2 years of experience in project planning or project controls.
- Internship or training experience within Oil & Gas, EPC, Engineering Consultancy, or Construction is an advantage.
- Knowledge of engineering project life cycle is desirable.
