The role involves performing a variety of tasks to support the production, testing, and quality assurance processes in the manufacture of cement. You will work closely with the Laboratory Technicians, Engineers, and Production staff, ensuring that all materials and products meet industry standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
· Sample Collection and Preparation: Collect raw material, intermediate, and finished product samples from various stages of the manufacturing process. Prepare these samples for analysis by following standard operating procedures.
· Testing and Analysis: Conduct routine tests and analyses on samples, including chemical, physical, and mechanical tests. Utilize laboratory equipment such as spectrometers, X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analyzers, and compression testing machines.
· Data Recording and Reporting: Accurately record test results and observations. Maintain detailed records of all analyses performed and report findings to the Laboratory Supervisor or relevant personnel.
· Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory instruments and equipment. Ensure that all equipment is in good working order and report any malfunctions to the appropriate staff.
· Quality Control: Assist in the implementation and monitoring of quality control procedures. Ensure that all products meet the required specifications and standards before they are released for use or distribution.
· Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while working in the laboratory. Maintain a clean and organized work environment to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
· Collaboration: Work closely with other laboratory staff, production teams, and quality assurance personnel to ensure the smooth operation of the manufacturing process. Participate in team meetings and contribute to problem-solving initiatives.
Qualification & Skills
3rd level degree in Chemistry is required.
Previous experience working in a laboratory setting in the cement or construction materials industry, is essential along with demonstrating proficiency in using laboratory equipment and conducting chemical and physical tests. Familiarity with standard laboratory procedures and safety protocols.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recording and reporting data along with be able to identify and troubleshoot issues in the testing process.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential along with ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with colleagues from various departments. You must be able to think critically and solve problems related to laboratory testing and equipment maintenance. Proficiency in using computer software for data entry, analysis, and reporting is essential.
