Job Purpose

The IT Project Manager will lead and support the delivery of IT programs and projects within the Business Applications department, ensuring effective planning, execution, and governance of both in-house and vendor-driven IT solutions. This role includes business analysis, budgeting, risk management, stakeholder engagement, and compliance with IT PMO standards across the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Manage multiple concurrent IT projects aligned with QGMS processes and IT PMO governance standards.

Conduct business analysis and elicit requirements through workshops with functional SMEs across departments.

Define project scope, budgets, and implementation schedules; maintain project plans and track progress against key milestones.

Maintain up-to-date status of all projects on the Enterprise Portfolio Management platform, ensuring timely reporting, document uploads, and lifecycle gate approvals.

Monitor and control project expenditures; investigate deviations from forecasts and implement corrective measures.

Develop technical design documentation (UI wireframes, architecture diagrams, workflows, business rules) with input from IT and business stakeholders.

Lead the planning and execution of testing, training, and stakeholder review sessions.

Ensure high-quality deliverables, timely execution, and completion of projects within budget while maximizing value to end users.

Identify and manage project risks and issues; plan mitigation strategies and take proactive actions.

Prepare and submit periodic project reports, budget forecasts, and status updates to stakeholders.

Manage vendor interactions for outsourced projects, including technical evaluations and implementation monitoring.

Ensure information security controls are addressed and documented in alignment with project-specific risk assessments.

Coordinate with other Project Managers and IT teams to align interdependent project requirements.

Contribute to strategic and transformational initiatives as assigned by senior leadership.

Mentor junior team members and support professional development through coaching and knowledge sharing.

Educational Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.

A postgraduate qualification (MSc, MBA, etc.) is preferred.

Professional Qualifications / Skills Required

Proven experience of operating within a large enterprise

Experienced in evaluation of IT requirements and establishing IT Systems and Applications

specifically within the Oil and Gas Industry.

7 years’ experience as IT Project Manager in a similar organization with at least 2 completed

end to end projects of value US$ 500K or above
