Instrument Technician

Position Summary
The Instrument Technician is responsible for the installation, calibration, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and commissioning of field instrumentation and control systems used in oil and gas facilities. The role ensures safe and reliable operation of instrumentation equipment in compliance with project specifications, company standards, and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, calibrate, and maintain field instruments such as pressure, temperature, flow, and level transmitters.
- Perform loop checking, functional testing, and commissioning activities.
- Troubleshoot and repair instrumentation and control system faults.
- Read and interpret P&IDs, loop drawings, hook-up drawings, and instrument datasheets.
- Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on instrumentation equipment.
- Assist in shutdown, turnaround, and start-up activities.
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies and permit-to-work requirements.
- Prepare maintenance reports and calibration records.
- Coordinate with engineers, supervisors, and other disciplines during project execution.
Requirements
- Diploma/ITI/Technical Certificate in Instrumentation, Electronics, or related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, LNG, or Refinery projects.
- Experience with calibration equipment and process control instruments.
- Knowledge of DCS, PLC, ESD, and SCADA systems is preferred.
- Familiarity with international standards and safety procedures.
- Valid certifications and project experience in GCC countries are advantageous.
