UPM is looking for a Saudi of the highest caliber to fill the vacancy of Institutional Communication Assistant Director:

Functional Description:

The Institutional Communication Assistant Director supports the Director in managing the University’s communication, media, and identity activities. The role ensures effective implementation of communication strategies, consistent University branding, and coordination of media initiatives in alignment with the University’s strategic objectives.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Institutional Communication Director in leading and managing the Institutional Communication Unit.
  • Supervise the day-to-day operations of the unit, including planning, task allocation, and performance follow-up.
  • Support the development and performance of unit staff.
  • Coordinate communication activities with academic and administrative units across the University.
  • Support the development of the University’s media and communication plans.
  • Oversee the implementation and follow-up of approved media and communication plans.
  • Monitor the progress of media initiatives and campaigns and recommend improvements.
  • Prepare periodic reports on communication activities and performance indicators.
  • Ensure media and communication content is developed, reviewed, and aligned with the University’s identity and branding standards.
  • Preparing informational and marketing media content for the university on various occasions and events and reviewing what is prepared by internal or external contracting or cooperating parties to verify its suitability to the institutional identity and reputation.
  • Submit media and communication content to the Institutional Communication Director for review and onward submission to the University President for final approval in accordance with the approved governance process.
  • Coordinate the implementation of the University’s identity standards across all colleges, departments, and administrative units.
  • Support the development of communication materials that promote a consistent University image.
  • Coordinate with media representatives and relevant stakeholders to document and disseminate University news, events, and achievements.
  • Oversee media coverage of university activities and official events.
  • Maintain records and archives of communication materials and media coverage.

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Media, Communication, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field. Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in media, branding, or institutional communication. At least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role, preferably within a higher education or large institutional environment.
