Overview
To implement all aspects of the quality management systems and site supervision activities related to landscape works across the project. Perform inspections to deliver quality installations in accordance with the contract documents, relevant international standards and local authorities’ requirements.
Responsibilities
- Keep, monitor and follow up as necessary and maintain complete records concerning the execution of the works.
- Inspect, sample and test materials to assure compliance with the contract specification.
- Identify non-conforming work or materials, notify the contractor and keep a record; follow up corrective and preventive measures taken by the contractor.
- Assist in the review and provide comments on the contractor’s method statements for execution of the works and on the contractor’s technical submittals.
- Attend site technical coordination meetings to discuss contractor submissions, shop drawings, material submittals and construction-related matters.
- Carry out the final inspection for certification of final completion and handover of the works.
- Assist in the review and comments on Technical Queries raised by the contractor.
- Inspect contractor work to ensure execution in accordance with the Contract Documents and accepted practice.
- Inspect on-site and off-site materials to be used in the project and coordinate field and laboratory tests to verify compliance with specifications and determine acceptability for use on the project.
- Identify potential safety concerns and inform the contractor.
- Review site progress and assist in the review of the contractor’s interim payment application.
- Liaise with the Resident Engineer (RE) for the effective implementation of the quality management systems and site supervision activities.
- Implement site supervision quality procedures and review submission requirements of the project, along with the contractor.
- Review all construction documents and highlight any design and contractual discrepancies with the concerned RE.
- Ensure that all statutory authority NOC’s / permits / design approvals are available on site for construction.
- Make reasonable efforts to avoid contractor claims for cost and/or delay.
- Conduct regular (daily) site visits and supervise/verify the installation of civil/architectural works for compliance with contract documents.
- Raise non-conformance notices (NCNs) and site inspection notices (SINs) to identify quality deficiencies with the RE.
- Review corrective actions proposed by the contractor, follow up and close out procedures.
- Report any potential safety concerns identified at site to the site SHSEE / RE.
- Monitor progress against the approved contractor programme; verify the accuracy of As-Built drawings and approve As-Built documentation.
- Assist in reviewing and approving the contractor’s operations & maintenance manuals.
- Liaise with Statutory Authorities and follow up final inspections and approvals as required.
- Carry out the final inspection for certification of final completion and handover of the works.
Qualifications
- Minimum Civil or Architectural Engineering/Diploma qualified.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in Landscape (Soft/Hard).
- Previous site inspection experience.
- Understanding of British, American and International design standards.
- Working knowledge of ICAO standards would be a distinct benefit.
- Good communication skills in written and spoken English essential.
