About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Business Studies and Economics Teacher to join our secondary teaching team. The successful candidate will deliver engaging, high-quality lessons for IGCSE (Cambridge/Edexcel) Business Studies and Economics, inspiring students to develop strong analytical, financial, and commercial awareness skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging IGCSE Business Studies and Economics lessons in line with the Cambridge/Edexcel syllabus.
- Design schemes of work, lesson plans, and assessments that meet curriculum standards and cater to diverse learning needs.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and maintaining accurate records.
- Prepare students effectively for IGCSE examinations, including past paper practice and exam technique coaching.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages critical thinking and real-world application of business and economic concepts.
- Integrate current affairs, case studies, and real-life business examples into teaching.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, moderation, and cross-departmental initiatives.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress.
- Participate in extracurricular activities, such as a Business/Economics club, Young Enterprise, or similar initiatives (desirable).
- Uphold the school’s policies on safeguarding, behaviour management, and pastoral care.
- Engage in continuous professional development (CPD) and contribute to whole-school initiatives.
Person SpecificationEssential
- 3 or 4 years Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
- Recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, B.Ed, PGDE, or equivalent).
- Proven experience teaching IGCSE Business Studies and/or Economics (Cambridge CAIE or Edexcel).
- Strong subject knowledge and ability to make concepts accessible and engaging.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet varied student abilities.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in assessment and reporting.
Desirable
- Experience teaching IB, A-Level, or AS-Level Business/Economics.
- Familiarity with examination board requirements and moderation processes.
- Experience with digital learning tools and platforms (e.g., Google Classroom, Zoom).
- Involvement in extracurricular business/economics-related activities.
- Prior experience teaching in an international school setting.
