Job Description
HYDRA Sports is seeking a Head Basketball Coach to lead, develop, and deliver the HYDRA Basketball Program across all age groups and levels. The Coach will oversee staffing, curriculum design, competition planning, financial management, communication and stakeholder engagement, ensuring alignment with HYDRA and ASD Basketball pathways.
Position Summary
The Head Basketball Coach is responsible for overall leadership and execution of the program, creating an elite, inclusive, and safe environment that prioritizes long‑term athlete development. The role involves demonstrating a strong commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and social responsibility while safeguarding the welfare of all participants.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of and commitment to HYDRA Sports philosophy and long‑term athlete development principles.
- Lead, develop and continuously improve the Basketball Program for all age groups.
- Design and implement a clear player pathway from participation to competitive performance.
- Actively coach at least one group, maintaining high coaching standards.
- Develop and manage seasonal plans, including training schedules, competition calendars and facility usage.
- Allocate coaching staff to ensure quality delivery across sessions.
- Create and implement a structured, age‑appropriate curriculum aligned with HYDRA’s coaching DNA.
- Ensure sessions are progressive, engaging and aligned with long‑term athlete development.
- Monitor athlete progress and support movement between groups.
- Support development and competitive teams to achieve program objectives.
- Act as Tournament Director for home events and competitions:
- Maintain accurate program records, statistics and operational data.
- Coordinate fixtures and competitions with external organisations.
- Oversee all game‑day operations and logistics.
- Manage communication with parents and athletes via email, website and social media; keep all administrative documentation accurate and up to date.
- Conduct regular facility and equipment checks, reporting safety concerns promptly.
- Recruit, onboard, schedule and evaluate coaching staff.
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels across all programs.
- Deliver and support ongoing CPD opportunities for HYDRA and ASD coaching staff.
- Foster a professional, collaborative and accountable team culture.
- Uphold and enforce ASD Child Protection policies.
- Ensure a safe, inclusive and supportive environment for all participants.
- Educate staff, athletes and parents on safeguarding expectations and best practices.
- Oversee registration processes with the HYDRA Office Coordinator; set program pricing and manage refunds where necessary.
- Review budgets and contribute to financial planning and reporting.
- Assist purchasing of equipment, kit and program resources with the HYDRA Program Manager.
- Collaborate with ASD Athletics & Activities to ensure program alignment.
- Build strong relationships with parents, athletes and the wider ASD community.
- Attend competitions, events and program‑related activities as required.
- Plan and deliver team events, including end‑of‑season celebrations.
Knowledge & Skills
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a basketball Head Coach or in a leadership role.
- Experience working with athletes aged 5‑18 across development and competitive environments.
- Strong organisational, administrative and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead teams, manage programs and collaborate effectively.
- Proficient in English (spoken and written).
- Competent in coaching software and standard IT systems (Mac & PC).
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and integrity.
Qualifications
- Level 3 / FIBA certification (or equivalent).
- High School Diploma (or equivalent) with relevant experience.
- Degree in Sports Coaching or related field (preferred). 
Desirable
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working within an educational/school environment.
- Experience with VEO or video analysis platforms.
- Ability to read, write and speak Arabic.

- Police clearance (Country of Origin) issued within the past 6 months.
