Heavy Equipment / Rigger HSE Specialist is responsible for strengthening HSE coverage in high-risk areas involving heavy equipment operations, lifting, rigging, and crane activities.
This position is particularly important for large-scale construction and infrastructure projects where heavy equipment and lifting activities are a significant part of the construction operations.
The position will report directly to the HSE Executive and will be assigned to provide HSE support across various project packages and sites as required. The successful candidate will work closely with project teams, contractors, lifting supervisors, equipment operators, riggers, and other site personnel to ensure safe working practices and compliance with applicable HSE requirements.
Provide specialist HSE support for lifting, rigging, crane, and heavy equipment activities across project sites.
Conduct regular field inspections of cranes, heavy machinery, lifting equipment, and rigging accessories.
Review and provide HSE input on lifting plans, risk assessments, method statements, and lifting procedures.
Monitor lifting and heavy equipment operations to ensure compliance with approved procedures and safe working practices.
Assess the competency and suitability of operators, riggers, signalmen, lifting supervisors, and other lifting personnel.
Identify hazards and evaluate risks associated with lifting and heavy equipment activities.
Challenge unsafe practices and conditions and recommend or initiate stop-work actions where there is an immediate risk to personnel or assets.
Monitor contractor compliance with HSE requirements and provide guidance on corrective actions.
Support incident investigations related to lifting, rigging, crane, and heavy equipment activities.
Maintain appropriate HSE inspection, observation, and reporting records.
Provide regular feedback and recommendations to the HSE Executive on key risks, trends, and areas requiring improvement.
Promote a strong safety culture across project sites and packages.
