Job Responsibilities
Act as the institution lead competent person for HSE, providing professional leadership, advice, and support on Health, Safety, and Environment.
Promote occupational health, safety, and environment throughout Energy Tech.
Work proactively with managers and senior staff across faculties and departments to establish and maintain effective policies, systems, and processes to foster a positive safety culture.
Provide professional advice to Energy Tech on all health, safety, and emergency planning matters.
Influence the overall health and safety strategy and advise the Energy Tech Health and Safety Committee.
Support those responsible for health, safety, and environment management to develop their skills to an appropriate level.
Organize, maintain, and utilize the Energy Tech health, safety, and environment management system.
Ensure consistent and effective incident reporting processes.
Monitor the implementation of health, safety, and environment strategies and management plans.
Assess the effectiveness of faculty and departmental health and safety inspections, and identify non-compliance issues.
Manage HSE training and safety event procedures for Energy Tech employees and students.
Develop and maintain high-quality policies, procedures, and guidance to support effective safety management systems.
Provide training and support for risk assessment processes.
Ensure appropriate infrastructure is in place for workplace and workshop risk assessments, including review and action on findings.
Assist managers and seniors in risk assessments related to their activities and support the implementation of control measures.
Collaborate with managers and seniors to implement risk management and safety processes, and mitigate risks.
Conduct audits to evaluate the effectiveness of HSE systems and procedures, and implement improvements.
Investigate incidents and accidents, analyze causes, and implement measures to prevent recurrence.
Provide investigation reports and maintain appropriate records.
Maintain relationships with external agencies such as police, medical services, and fire services.
Maintain a program of fire risk assessments and drills.
Skills
Minimum 5 years of experience in Safety & Health.
Extensive knowledge of strategic and operational safety & health policies, procedures, and practices.
Understanding and application of IOSH & NEBOSH standards.
Diplomacy and professional communication skills.
Team player with motivating skills.
Strong organizing and leadership abilities.
