Horticulturalist
responsible for the cultivation, maintenance, and production of a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, and flowering plants across two greenhouse facilities. The role requires hands-on management of plant health, irrigation, fertilization, pest control, propagation, harvesting, and overall greenhouse operations to ensure optimal crop quality and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations of two greenhouses growing fruits, vegetables, and ornamental flowers.
- Monitor plant growth, health, and development, implementing corrective actions when necessary.
- Develop and maintain irrigation and fertilization schedules for different crop varieties.
- Conduct planting, transplanting, pruning, training, and propagation activities.
- Monitor and control pests, diseases, and weeds
- Maintain greenhouse environmental conditions, including temperature, humidity, ventilation, and lighting.
- Oversee harvesting activities and ensure produce and flowers meet quality standards.
- Maintain accurate records of planting schedules, crop performance, fertilizer applications, pesticide usage, and harvest yields.
- Coordinate with greenhouse workers and provide guidance on horticultural best practices.
- Monitor inventory levels of seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, growing media, and greenhouse supplies.
- Recommend new crop varieties and cultivation techniques to improve productivity and quality.
- Assist in planning seasonal crop rotations and production schedules.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Horticulture, Agriculture, Plant Science, or a related field.
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in greenhouse crop production in the region.
- Strong knowledge of fruit, vegetable, and flower cultivation.
- Experience with irrigation systems, fertigation, and greenhouse climate control.
- Knowledge of pest and disease identification and management.
- Ability to supervise and train greenhouse staff.
- Good record-keeping and reporting skills.
- Physically fit and capable of working in greenhouse environments.
