High Voltage Commissioning Engineer, APJC ACx, SEA – APJC DCCD Cx

AWS Infrastructure Services leads the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In this role, you will support the deployment and commissioning of high‑voltage substations, power systems, generators, UPS, HVAC, chilled water, BMS, and EPMS across the APJC region and beyond, ensuring safety, quality, and performance meet Amazon’s stringent standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate multi‑discipline work related to pre‑commissioning and commissioning of Amazon critical infrastructure, including high, medium, and low voltage power systems.
  • Manage and support commissioning vendors, contractors, and cross‑functional teams; serve as point of contact for escalations and mitigation plans.
  • Provide input into scheduling, design, planning, and execution of projects and innovation initiatives.
  • Review integrated systems testing and commissioning documents to ensure compliance with design specifications, Amazon standards, and industry standards.
  • Ensure all commissioning procedures follow safety practices, policies and procedures; audit activities to meet environmental, quality, and safety requirements.
  • Report weekly commissioning progress and metrics for assigned projects; manage multiple concurrent projects across regions.
  • Analyze system design through mechanical and electrical documentation; recommend design, equipment selection, pre‑functional checklists, start‑up and functional test scripts.
  • Validate system performance by establishing acceptance criteria, reviewing reports, performing verification and validation, and ensuring documentation accuracy.
  • Support commissioning audits and partner with internal and external teams to guarantee sufficient depth and breadth of the commissioning regime.

Systems Analysis and Validation

  • Understand design intent by reviewing mechanical and electrical construction documentation, vendor submittals, and sequences of operations.
  • Provide recommendations on design, equipment selection, maintainability, and commission‑ability.
  • Validate as‑built documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Communicate commissioning issues, questions, and concerns through proper channels.
  • Partner with internal and external teams to ensure depth and breadth of commissioning.

Project Management

  • Execute commissioning of critical infrastructure to validate installation, operation, and performance of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems.
  • Act as the point of contact for vendor escalations, develop mitigation plans, and audit deliverables.
  • Develop project schedules and plans for deliveries, strategic initiatives, and innovation projects.
  • Represent ACx in coordination meetings with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain quality of commissioning documentation and manage concurrent projects across multiple regions and time zones.

A Day in the Life

As a high‑voltage commissioning engineer, you blend technical expertise with project management. You review scripts against design intent, coordinate on‑site work with contractors, proactively identify risks, and collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to keep projects on schedule.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline.
  • 5+ years’ experience in High Voltage Commissioning, High Voltage Electrical Design, Construction Project Management, Control System installation or maintenance, HVAC testing and balancing, or Facilities operations and maintenance.
  • Ability to interpret construction documents including design drawings, control diagrams, and specifications.
  • Ability to develop and execute test procedures for mechanical or electrical systems based on design intent.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and control systems and basic knowledge of fire alarm/life safety systems.
  • Proven track record delivering mission‑critical/complex infrastructure.
  • Experience with stakeholder management and navigating ambiguity.
