Restaurant Supervisor

1. JOB ROLE

The role of the Restaurant Supervisor is to oversee the daily operations of the restaurant floor, ensuring exceptional customer service, smooth operations, and adherence to company policies and procedures. (S)He supports the restaurant team, ensures guest satisfaction, and helps maintain efficient service and a positive atmosphere.

2. RESPONSIBILITIES

The Restaurant Supervisor is responsible for:

Supervising restaurant staff, including servers, hosts, bartenders, and other front-of-house personnel.
Ensuring customer satisfaction by maintaining high standards of service and addressing any customer concerns promptly.
Managing restaurant seating arrangements, greeting customers, and ensuring the restaurant runs smoothly during busy periods.
Coordinating with the kitchen to ensure timely delivery of food and beverages.
Ensuring the restaurant’s cleanliness, including dining areas, restrooms, and customer service stations.
Managing reservations and ensuring proper staffing levels for service shifts.
Training, mentoring, and providing feedback to restaurant staff.
Monitoring and controlling inventory of front-of-house supplies (menus, condiments, etc.).
Enforcing health, safety, and sanitation standards for all dining areas.
Assisting in the preparation and execution of promotional events or special dining experiences.
Handling customer complaints and resolving issues effectively and professionally.
Assisting with opening and closing procedures, including cash handling and end-of-day reporting.
Ensuring compliance with all relevant local laws and regulations concerning food service and alcohol.

3. ROLE CRITERIA

3.1 Skills

Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
Strong customer service orientation with problem-solving skills.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure, particularly during peak times.
Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and service.

3.2 Experience

Previous experience in restaurant management or as a senior front-of-house staff member, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory role.

3.3 Training

Full training will be provided for this role, including general induction and on-the-job training.

3.4 Education Qualification

A foundation degree in hospitality management or a related field is preferred, though not required.
Certification in food safety and hygiene is an advantage.

3.5 Language

Fluent in the local language with a good understanding of English. Should be able to communicate effectively with both front-of-house and back-of-house staff, as well as customers.
