The Role: Goodwill Impairment Analyst
This is a specialized role for a finance professional who excels in IAS 36 and ASC 350 standards. You will be the internal authority on whether our acquisitions are delivering the long-term value originally envisioned.
Key Responsibilities:
- Annual Impairment Testing: Lead the execution of annual goodwill impairment tests for various Reporting Units (RUs) and Cash-Generating Units (CGUs).
- Fair Value Assessment: Utilize Income, Market, and Cost approaches to determine the fair value of reporting units.
- Forecasting & Projection: Collaborate with business unit leaders to validate long-term financial projections and growth assumptions.
- WACC Analysis: Calculate and defend discount rates, including the Weighted Average Cost of Capital (WACC), specific to the Qatar market and our industry.
- Audit Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors, providing comprehensive documentation and "white papers" to support impairment conclusions.
Who You Are
- Technical Expert: You have a Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting. A CFA, ACCA, or CPA is highly preferred.
- Detailed Analyst: You have 3+ years of experience in valuation, financial reporting, or audit, with a specific focus on impairment testing.
- Master of Standards: You have a deep understanding of IFRS (specifically IAS 36) and its application within the Middle Eastern regulatory landscape.
- Strong Communicator: You can explain complex valuation adjustments to non-financial stakeholders with clarity and confidence.
- Local Perspective: Knowledge of the Qatari economy and Al Wakrah’s business climate is a distinct advantage.
