Role Overview
The Geotechnical Engineer will support the supervision of geotechnical works for building projects, ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and project requirements. The role focuses on reviewing reports, monitoring site activities, and coordinating with contractors and design teams during construction.
Responsibilities
- Review geotechnical investigation reports, soil data, and foundation design submissions for building projects.
- Supervise site activities including excavation, shoring, dewatering, back filling, and compaction works.
- Monitor foundation works such as shallow foundations, raft foundations, and piling activities.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, local regulations, and international standards.
- Coordinate with structural engineers, contractors, and consultants to resolve geotechnical-related issues.
- Review method statements, shop drawings, and material submittals.
- Witness and verify field and laboratory testing (soil tests, compaction tests, pile load tests, etc.).
- Assess site conditions and provide recommendations for safe construction practices.
- Prepare site reports, technical comments, and non-conformance reports (NCRs) when required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (Master’s in Geotechnical Engineering is preferred).
- Minimum 12 years of experience in geotechnical engineering.
- Experience in building projects (residential, commercial, or mixed-use) is required.
- Background in consultant supervision / construction supervision is preferred.
- Experience in Saudi Arabia or GCC is an advantage.
- Familiarity with international standards (ASTM, BS, Eurocodes).
