Position Summary
We are seeking a highly accomplished and results-driven General Manager to lead the overall operations of our manufacturing business. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving business growth, operational excellence, profitability, and continuous improvement across all functions. This role requires a strategic leader with strong commercial acumen and hands-on operational expertise within the building materials manufacturing industry, preferably in Pipes, Paints, Steel, Cement, Ceramics, Aluminum, Glass, or related construction products.
The General Manager will oversee manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, sales, finance, quality, and human resources to ensure sustainable growth and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute the company’s strategic business and operational plans.
- Drive sustainable revenue growth, market expansion, and profitability.
- Identify new business opportunities, products, and markets.
- Lead annual business planning, budgeting, and performance management.
Manufacturing & Operations
- Oversee end-to-end manufacturing operations, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and delivery commitments are achieved.
- Improve operational efficiency through Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Optimize plant capacity utilization and production planning.
- Reduce manufacturing costs while maintaining product quality and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure compliance with quality, environmental, and occupational health & safety standards.
Financial Management
- Manage full P&L responsibility.
- Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial performance.
- Drive cost optimization and productivity improvement initiatives.
- Monitor KPIs and implement corrective actions to improve profitability and operational performance.
Supply Chain & Procurement
- Optimize procurement, inventory management, warehousing, logistics, and distribution.
- Strengthen supplier relationships and negotiate strategic sourcing agreements.
- Ensure uninterrupted availability of raw materials and production inputs.
Commercial & Business Development
- Partner with Sales and Marketing teams to expand market share and strengthen customer relationships.
- Develop pricing strategies and support new product launches.
- Identify opportunities for business diversification and strategic partnerships.
People Leadership
- Build, mentor, and lead high-performing cross-functional teams.
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Develop succession plans and leadership capabilities across the organization.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with ISO standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
- Promote world-class manufacturing practices and quality assurance systems.
- Lead initiatives to improve customer satisfaction and product reliability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Business Administration.
- MBA or postgraduate qualification is highly preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 12–15 years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing.
- At least 5 years in a General Manager, Plant Manager, Operations Director, or Manufacturing Director role.
- Strong experience within the building materials manufacturing sector is highly preferred, including:
