The General Accountant is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting tasks, ensuring accurate financial records, and assisting in the preparation of financial reports. This role requires a solid understanding of accounting principles, a strong attention to detail, and familiarity with Saudi Arabian financial regulations and tax laws.
Responsibilities
General Ledger Maintenance :
Maintain and update the general ledger, including recording transactions, making adjustments, and performing reconciliations.
Prepare journal entries and ensure proper documentation for all transactions.
Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable, and accounts receivable on a monthly basis.
All other bookings to ensure accurate and timely recording of transactions.
Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable :
Process the accounts receivable, including invoicing, collections, and credit control.
Process and record accounts payable transactions, including vendor payments and expense reimbursements.
Reconcile accounts receivable and accounts payable on a regular basis.
Expense Management :
Review and process employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies.
Monitor and control company expenses to ensure they align with the budget.
Tax Compliance :
Assist in the preparation and submission of VAT, Zakat, and other tax returns.
Ensure compliance with Saudi tax laws and regulations.
Maintain accurate records of tax filings and payments.
Utilize accounting software to maintain accurate financial records.
Assist in the implementation and maintenance of financial systems and processes.
Provide training and support to junior accounting staff as needed.
Other assigned duties :
Participate in special projects or initiatives as assigned by management.
Provide support and assistance to other departments as needed.
Stay updated with changes in accounting standards, regulations, and best practices.
Minimum Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
3+ years of accounting experience.
SAP experience is a must.
Strong financial analysis skills.
Familiarity with Saudi Arabian financial regulations and tax laws is preferred.
