Position Title: Gas Systems Mechanical Engineer
Sector: Contracting and Engineering Consultancies / Real Estate Development
Project Type: Residential complexes, towers, commercial malls, hotels, and restaurants.
Overall Objective of the Position:
Assume responsibility for the design, supervision, and execution of LPG/NG gas distribution networks for commercial and residential projects, ensuring compliance with the highest quality and safety standards, and fulfilling all requirements of the Saudi Civil Defense and Gas and Industrial Safety (GASCO).
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
Design and Calculation of Works:
Perform engineering calculations for gas networks and determine pipe sizes based on gas flow rates and allowable pressure drops.
Determine the capacities of gas storage facilities and their suitable locations, ensuring safety distances according to applicable codes.
Select and approve materials and components (pipes, pressure regulators, fittings, leak detection systems).
Execution and Supervision on Sites:
Direct supervision of gas network installations and ensure the quality of welding and connections.
Ensure the installation of pipelines in safe and appropriate routes (e.g., using sleeves in standard ceilings and enclosed areas).
Manage and install safety systems (Solenoid Valves & Gas Detection Systems) and connect them to the centralized fire alarm system in the building.
Regulatory Approvals and Coordination (within Saudi Arabia):
Prepare shop drawings and submit them for approval from the consultant and civil defense through the “Salama” platform.
Coordinate with GASCO to implement their requirements and facilitate the network inspection and storage filling process.
Testing and Commissioning:
Conduct pressure tests using nitrogen or dry air to verify the absence of leaks.
Issue safety certificates and final commissioning tests for the network before handing over the project to the owner or commissioning it.
