Job Summary:
We are looking for a Fire Safety Prevention and Protection Engineer who is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining fire prevention and protection systems to ensure compliance with safety regulations and minimize fire hazards.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct fire risk assessments to identify hazards and recommend preventive measures.
Develop and implement fire safety policies, evacuation plans, and emergency procedures.
Ensure compliance with local, national, and international fire safety codes (e.g., NFPA, IBC, Saudi Building Code, Civil Defense regulations).
Inspect buildings and facilities to identify fire risks and non-compliance issues.
Design and oversee the installation of fire detection, alarm, and suppression systems (e.g., sprinklers, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers).
Specify and recommend fire-resistant materials, coatings, and construction techniques.
Work with architects and engineers to ensure fire safety is integrated into building design and renovations.
Supervise the maintenance and testing of fire protection systems to ensure functionality.
Compliance & Regulatory Requirements:
Ensure that fire safety designs and procedures comply with local regulations and industry standards.
Prepare reports and documentation for regulatory approvals and audits.
Work closely with Civil Defense authorities, fire marshals, and government agencies for inspections and certifications.
Emergency Response & Training:
Develop and implement fire emergency response plans for employees and facility occupants.
Conduct fire drills, training programs, and safety awareness sessions.
Train employees on fire extinguisher usage, evacuation procedures, and emergency response protocols.
Investigate fire incidents or near-miss events, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
Research and recommend innovative fire protection technologies and best practices.
Improve fire safety measures by analyzing past fire incidents and safety reports.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education & Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, or a related field.
Certification in Fire Protection Engineering (e.g., CFPS, NFPA Certified, Civil Defense certification) is an advantage.
Knowledge of Saudi Building Code (SBC 201, SBC 801) and NFPA standards.
Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of fire suppression systems, fire alarms, smoke control, and emergency lighting.
Experience with fire modeling software (e.g., FDS, Pathfinder) and AutoCAD for fire protection system design.
Knowledge of hazardous materials and fire behavior analysis.
Soft Skills:
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong attention to detail and risk assessment abilities.
Ability to work under pressure and respond to emergencies quickly.
Strong communication skills for training employees and coordinating with authorities.
Preferred Experience:
5+ years of experience in fire safety engineering, risk assessment, or fire protection system design.
Experience working in construction, oil & gas, industrial, or commercial building sectors.
Familiarity with fire safety laws in Saudi Arabia and international safety standards.
