About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Fire Alarm Technician to install, test, commission, maintain, and troubleshoot Fire Alarm and Life Safety Systems. The successful candidate must have strong hands-on knowledge of both Addressable and Conventional Fire Alarm Systems and be capable of independently identifying and resolving system faults.
The ideal candidate should have practical experience in installation, preventive maintenance, testing, commissioning, and system troubleshooting while maintaining compliance with applicable fire and life-safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, test, commission, maintain, and troubleshoot fire alarm systems.
- Work with both Addressable and Conventional Fire Alarm Panels and Devices.
- Install and test smoke detectors, heat detectors, manual call points, sounders, modules, interfaces, and related devices.
- Diagnose and repair panel faults, wiring issues, communication failures, earth faults, and device-related problems.
- Perform preventive maintenance, routine inspections, functional testing, and corrective maintenance.
- Carry out cable termination, device installation, panel connections, and loop testing.
- Assist with fire alarm panel programming, configuration, and device addressing where required.
- Conduct testing and commissioning according to approved drawings and project requirements.
- Read and understand fire alarm layouts, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Coordinate with engineers, supervisors, and other site teams during installation and maintenance activities.
- Prepare service reports, maintenance records, testing reports, and fault reports.
- Respond promptly to breakdowns and emergency maintenance requirements.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools, testing equipment, and safety equipment.
- Follow company HSE procedures and applicable fire and life-safety standards.
Requirements
- Diploma / ITI / Technical Certificate in Electrical, Electronics, Fire Alarm Systems, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience as a Fire Alarm Technician.
- Strong practical knowledge of Addressable and Conventional Fire Alarm Systems.
- Proven experience in installation, testing, commissioning, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Good knowledge of fire alarm panels, detectors, modules, sounders, interfaces, and associated field devices.
- Ability to diagnose wiring faults, loop faults, communication failures, and panel/device issues.
- Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and fire alarm layouts.
- Familiarity with NFPA 72 and applicable fire alarm/life-safety requirements is preferred.
- Experience working with major fire alarm system brands is an advantage.
- Previous Qatar/GCC experience is highly preferred.
- Qatar Civil Defence / QCDD-related project experience is an advantage.
- Basic electrical testing knowledge and ability to use multimeters and other testing equipment.
- Good communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and attend emergency maintenance calls when required.
- Valid Qatar Driving License is an advantage.
