Finishing Project Engineer
Job Summary
The Finishing Project Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising, and executing all architectural and finishing works of high-rise building projects. The role ensures that finishing activities are completed in accordance with project specifications, approved drawings, quality standards, safety regulations, and project schedules while coordinating closely with consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and the project management team.
The successful candidate must possess extensive experience in managing internal and external finishing works for high-rise residential, commercial, hospitality, or mixed-use developments in Dubai.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution
- Plan, organize, and supervise all finishing works in accordance with the approved project schedule.
- Ensure finishing activities are executed according to project specifications, approved shop drawings, and contract requirements.
- Coordinate daily site activities to achieve project milestones.
- Monitor work progress and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
- Identify potential delays and implement corrective actions to maintain project schedules.
Site Supervision
- Supervise subcontractors and site personnel performing architectural and finishing works.
- Ensure proper installation of finishing materials in accordance with approved methods and quality standards.
- Monitor workmanship to ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Verify site readiness before commencing finishing activities.
- Conduct regular inspections of completed works.
Finishing Works Coordination
Coordinate and supervise all finishing activities including but not limited to:
- Floor finishes (tiles, marble, granite, stone, vinyl, epoxy, carpet)
- Wall finishes
- Painting works
- Ceiling systems
- Drywall and gypsum partitions
- Decorative finishes
- Joinery and carpentry
- Doors and ironmongery
- Aluminum, glazing and curtain wall interfaces
- Waterproofing finishing details
- Sanitary fixtures and accessories
- Architectural metal works
- External façade finishing
- Landscaping finishing interfaces
Quality Control
- Ensure finishing works comply with project quality standards and approved material submittals.
- Coordinate inspections with QA/QC Engineers and Consultants.
- Prepare and close snag lists.
- Ensure defects are rectified before inspections.
- Monitor mock-ups and sample approvals.
- Verify completed works before consultant inspections.
Coordination with Other Disciplines
- Coordinate with Civil, Structural, MEP, Architectural, QA/QC, Planning, and Procurement teams.
- Resolve site clashes between architectural and MEP installations.
- Coordinate with subcontractors to ensure smooth workflow.
- Attend coordination and progress meetings.
Material Management
- Monitor delivery of finishing materials.
- Verify materials comply with approved specifications.
- Coordinate procurement schedules with project requirements.
- Prevent material shortages affecting project progress.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of finishing materials.
Consultant & Client Coordination
- Coordinate consultant inspections.
- Respond to consultant comments.
- Ensure timely closure of NCRs and site observations.
- Attend client meetings regarding finishing progress.
- Support final project handover activities.
Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
- Ensure finishing activities comply with company HSE policies.
- Conduct regular site safety inspections.
- Ensure subcontractors follow safe working practices.
- Report unsafe conditions immediately.
- Promote a safe working environment.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
- Maintain records of inspections and approvals.
- Monitor material approvals and site deliveries.
- Update snagging and punch list reports.
- Maintain accurate site documentation.
Testing, Commissioning & Handover
- Coordinate pre-handover inspections.
- Ensure all finishing defects are rectified.
- Assist in obtaining consultant approvals.
- Support project completion and handover documentation.
- Coordinate final inspections with consultants and authorities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Professional certifications are an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience as a Finishing Engineer or Project Engineer.
- Minimum 3–5 years UAE experience in high-rise building construction.
- Proven experience with residential, commercial, hospitality, or mixed-use developments.
- Experience working with Main Contractors in Dubai is highly preferred.
Technical Knowledge
- High-rise building finishing methodologies.
- Architectural drawings and shop drawings.
- Material specifications and finishing standards.
- Snagging and defect management.
- QA/QC procedures.
- Building codes and Dubai construction regulations.
- Construction sequencing and project coordination.
Software Skills
- AutoCAD
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Microsoft Project or Primavera P6 (preferred)
- Bluebeam Revu (preferred)

- Experience with Dubai Municipality regulations.
- Experience with luxury high-rise finishing.
- Knowledge of local authority inspection procedures.
- Immediate availability or short notice period preferred.
