UPM is looking for a Saudi of the highest caliber to fill the vacancy of Financial Director:

Functional Description:

The Financial Director is responsible for overseeing the financial health and sustainability of the university, ensuring efficient financial management, compliance with regulatory standards, and alignment with the institution’s strategic objectives. This role involves financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and financial risk management to support the university’s mission and long-term goals.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Financial Management:

Develop and implement financial strategies to support the university’s long-term growth and stability.

Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership and the Board of Trustees.

Budgeting and Financial Planning:

Lead the development of annual budgets in collaboration with university leadership.

Monitor financial performance and recommend adjustments as necessary.

Oversee multi-year financial planning and forecasting.

Financial Reporting and Compliance:

Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and reports.

Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including tax regulations and non-profit financial standards.

Liaise with auditors and oversee financial audits and reviews.

Cash Flow and Investment Management:

Manage cash flow to ensure financial stability and liquidity.

Oversee investment strategies in alignment with the university’s financial policies.

Develop strategies for revenue generation and endowment management.

Financial Risk Management and Internal Controls:

Establish and maintain internal financial controls to mitigate risks.

Identify financial risks and implement strategies to minimize their impact.

Ensure transparency and accountability in financial operations.

Operational Efficiency and Cost Control:

Oversee financial operations, including procurement, payroll, and accounts payable/receivable.

Identify cost-saving initiatives without compromising educational quality.

Implement best practices in financial management and reporting.

Leadership and Team Management:

Lead and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Collaborate with university departments to optimize financial resources.

Ensure training and professional development for finance staff.

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.

CPA, CFA, or equivalent professional certification preferred.

Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

Strong knowledge of financial regulations and non-profit accounting principles.

Experience in the higher education or non-profit sector is strongly preferred.

Excellent leadership and team management skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to work collaboratively with senior leadership and stakeholders.

Proven track record in strategic financial planning and budgeting.

Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and management skills.
