A Field Technician / Meter Reader is responsible for visiting residential, commercial, or industrial sites to inspect, install, maintain, or record utility meter readings such as electricity, water, or gas consumption. The role combines technical fieldwork with data accuracy and customer interaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Travel to assigned locations to read utility meters (electricity, water, or gas)
- Record and report accurate usage data using handheld devices or mobile apps
- Inspect meters for damage, tampering, or irregular readings
- Install, replace, or maintain meters when required
- Report technical issues, leaks, or abnormalities to the operations team
- Follow safety procedures while working in outdoor or restricted environments
- Interact professionally with customers when accessing private properties
Skills and Requirements
- Basic technical or mechanical understanding
- Ability to read and record data accurately
- Good attention to detail and reliability
- Physical fitness for walking, climbing, and outdoor work
- Basic use of handheld devices or mobile data entry tools
- Strong time management and ability to work independently
- Valid driver’s license (often required, depending on employer)
Work Environment
- Primarily outdoor fieldwork in various weather conditions
- Regular travel between assigned locations
- May include early morning starts or scheduled route-based work
Pay: QAR65,000.00 – QAR85,000.00 per year
