Job Summary
The Fabrication Planning Engineer is responsible for planning, scheduling, monitoring, and controlling all fabrication activities from engineering drawing release through production and delivery. The role ensures materials, manpower, machines, and production capacity are effectively utilized to achieve project milestones while maintaining quality and client requirements.
Key ResponsibilitiesPlanning & Scheduling
- Prepare detailed fabrication schedules based on project priorities.
- Develop production plans using Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
- Prepare weekly and monthly production targets.
- Monitor fabrication progress against the approved baseline schedule.
- Update daily production reports and recovery plans.
Engineering Coordination
- Review IFC drawings, fabrication drawings, and BOM.
- Coordinate with Engineering for drawing releases and revisions.
- Track drawing approvals and revision status.
- Ensure production receives the latest approved drawings.
Material Planning
- Coordinate with Procurement for raw material availability.
- Verify material status against the Bill of Materials (BOM).
- Monitor steel sections, plates, bolts, consumables, and fittings.
- Identify material shortages and initiate procurement requests.
Production Planning
- Allocate fabrication jobs to workshop bays.
- Plan cutting, drilling, welding, assembly, grinding, blasting, and painting sequences.
- Optimize machine utilization (CNC Plasma, Beam Line, Bandsaw, Drilling, Shot Blasting).
- Coordinate manpower allocation with Production Engineers.
Progress Monitoring
- Track fabrication progress package-wise and project-wise.
- Monitor tonnage production and daily output.
- Identify delays and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare fabrication dashboards and KPI reports.
Coordination
- Coordinate with Production, QA/QC, Stores, Logistics, and Project Teams.
- Follow up on inspection requests and NCR closures.
- Coordinate dispatch schedules with the logistics department.
- Support site requirements for urgent fabrication priorities.
Reporting
- Prepare Daily Production Reports (DPR).
- Prepare Weekly Progress Reports.
- Prepare Monthly Fabrication Performance Reports.
- Generate S-Curve and Look-Ahead Schedules.
- Maintain project planning documentation.
Project Control
- Monitor fabrication productivity.
- Analyze planned vs. actual progress.
- Prepare delay analysis and mitigation plans.
- Support project managers with recovery schedules.
Quality & Safety
- Ensure fabrication activities comply with approved procedures.
- Coordinate with QA/QC for inspection stages.
- Promote safe working practices within the workshop.

- GCC/UAE experience preferred.
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
