Job Purpose

The Fabrication Designer is responsible for preparing accurate technical drawings, fabrication drawings, shop drawings, and production details for stainless steel and sheet-metal products. The role ensures that approved designs are converted into practical, cost-effective, and manufacturable drawings for production while meeting project specifications, dimensions, quality standards, and fabrication requirements.

Key Responsibilities1. Fabrication & Production Drawings

  • Prepare detailed 2D and 3D fabrication drawings based on approved designs, specifications, and site requirements.
  • Develop manufacturing drawings for stainless steel and sheet-metal products.
  • Prepare accurate dimensions, sections, elevations, details, and assembly drawings.
  • Produce cutting, bending, welding, assembly, and installation details required by the production team.
  • Ensure drawings clearly indicate material grade, thickness, finish, dimensions, tolerances, and fabrication requirements.

2. Commercial Kitchen Equipment Design

  • Prepare fabrication drawings for custom stainless-steel commercial kitchen equipment, including work tables, sinks, cabinets, shelving, counters, exhaust hoods, preparation equipment, and other fabricated items.
  • Translate consultant/client-approved equipment layouts and specifications into production-ready drawings.
  • Incorporate equipment interfaces and requirements for electrical, plumbing, drainage, gas, ventilation, and other services where applicable.
  • Ensure designs consider hygiene, accessibility, functionality, cleaning, maintenance, and safe operation.

3. Design for Manufacturing

  • Review designs to ensure they are practical and suitable for available fabrication processes and machinery.
  • Optimize designs to minimize material wastage and unnecessary fabrication time without compromising quality.
  • Determine appropriate fabrication methods, including cutting, bending, forming, welding, grinding, polishing, and assembly.
  • Coordinate with production personnel regarding fabrication limitations and recommend suitable design modifications.
  • Prepare or assist with nesting and cutting layouts where required.

4. Material & Technical Specifications

  • Specify appropriate materials, including stainless steel grades such as SS304 and SS316, thicknesses, finishes, and components.
  • Prepare Bill of Materials (BOM) and material requirements based on approved fabrication drawings.
  • Calculate material quantities and assist in controlling material utilization and wastage.
  • Ensure components, fittings, hardware, and accessories are correctly identified in drawings and BOMs.

5. Drawing Review & Coordination

  • Review architectural, MEP, kitchen layout, consultant, and project drawings relevant to fabrication.
  • Coordinate with Project, Design, Estimation, Production, Procurement, and Installation teams to resolve technical discrepancies.
  • Verify site measurements and incorporate approved site conditions into fabrication drawings.
  • Identify clashes, missing information, or discrepancies before releasing drawings for production.
  • Revise drawings based on approved technical comments, site conditions, or project changes.

6. Production Support

  • Provide technical clarification and drawing support to fabricators, welders, machine operators, and production supervisors.
  • Attend production discussions when clarification of drawings or fabrication methodology is required.
  • Monitor fabrication-related design issues and issue revised drawings when necessary.
  • Ensure the production team is working from the latest approved drawing revision.
  • Support troubleshooting of dimensional, assembly, or fabrication issues during manufacturing.

7. Quality & Accuracy

  • Check drawings thoroughly before release to minimize fabrication errors and rework.
  • Ensure fabricated products comply with approved drawings, specifications, and required dimensions.
  • Maintain consistency in drawing standards, symbols, dimensions, and technical documentation.
  • Participate in design and fabrication reviews where required.

8. Documentation & Drawing Control

  • Maintain organized records of fabrication drawings, revisions, BOMs, and related technical documents.
  • Clearly identify drawing numbers, revision numbers, dates, and approval status.
  • Maintain proper version control and ensure obsolete drawings are withdrawn from production use.
  • Prepare as-built or final fabrication drawings when required.

Pay: AED5,000.00 – AED6,500.00 per month

Experience:

  • Fabrication Designer in Commercial Kitchen Industry: 2 years (Required)
