Purpose of the Job

The Express Customs Brokerage Manager oversees daily operations of brokerage and customs teams, ensuring efficient service delivery and compliance. This role involves leading teams, optimizing customs operations, resolving complex issues, negotiating contracts, and ensuring accurate documentation. The manager will also provide updates to senior management, implement quality assurance, collaborate with cross-functional teams, monitor key metrics, and ensure compliance with local regulations while managing risks.

Job Responsibilities

Lead, manage, and mentor both the brokerage and customs teams to ensure efficient and effective operations.

Oversee daily operations of the brokerage team, ensuring seamless service delivery and achievement of performance goals.

Provide regular updates to senior management on brokerage performance, key metrics, and KPIs.

Develop and implement strategies to optimize express customs brokerage and clearance operations while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Handle complex issues and escalations related to both freight transactions and customs clearance, ensuring timely resolution.

Negotiate contracts and rates with carriers and clients, building and maintaining strong relationships with all stakeholders.

Coordinate with cross-functional teams and customs authorities to resolve any issues and ensure smooth operations for both brokerage and customs functions.

Conduct market research to inform strategic decisions and identify growth opportunities in express customs brokerage.

Prepare and manage customs declarations and ensure all required documentation is accurate and compliant with local laws and regulations.

Implement quality assurance programs to maintain high service standards and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Monitor and analyze brokerage and customs-related metrics, ensuring performance goals are met and risks are effectively managed.

Foster a positive, collaborative team environment and provide training programs to support team development and operational efficiency.

Collaborate with Accounting and Finance teams to ensure accurate calculation of duties, taxes, and proper documentation of financial transactions.

Job Requirements – Experience and Education

Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

Additional certifications in customs brokerage or freight management (e.g., Customs Broker License) are a plus.

7-10 years of experience in managing and leading customs brokerage and freight operations, with a focus on express shipments.

At least 5 years of experience in overseeing customs clearance procedures and managing both inbound and outbound shipments.

Proven experience in negotiating contracts and rates with carriers, clients, and third-party providers.

Strong background in freight brokerage, with deep knowledge of customs regulations, compliance, and documentation, particularly in Saudi Arabia.

Experience in team management and leadership, with the ability to mentor and develop both brokerage and customs teams.
