Position Overview:

The Museum Exhibition Production Officer (UAE Talents only) is responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of all aspects related to the production and installation of museum exhibitions. This role serves as a vital link between curators, designers, contractors, and technical teams, ensuring that exhibitions are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Lead and coordinate the production process for temporary and permanent exhibitions, from initial concept to deinstallation.
  • Budgeting: Prepare and manage exhibition production budgets, track expenditures, and ensure cost-effective solutions.
  • Scheduling: Develop detailed production and installation schedules, monitor progress, and adjust plans to meet deadlines.
  • Team Coordination: Liaise with curators, exhibition designers, conservators, registrars, and other museum staff to interpret exhibition requirements and implement production plans.
  • Contractor and Vendor Management: Source, select, and oversee external suppliers, fabricators, and contractors, ensuring all work meets museum standards and contractual obligations.
  • Technical Oversight: Supervise the fabrication, transportation, and installation of exhibition components, including cases, graphics, lighting, and multimedia elements.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure all production activities comply with health, safety, and security policies and procedures.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production processes, contracts, and installation plans for future reference and reporting.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and resolve production challenges quickly and effectively, adapting to last-minute changes when necessary.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Museum Studies, Art, Design, Project Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience in exhibition production, project management, or a similar role within a museum, gallery, or cultural institution.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, floor plans, and design specifications.
  • Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with design software is an advantage.
